Great style and atmosphere. Interesting and innovative food, whilst not being pretentious.
However, downside is the constant sense of mild panic amongst the staff, like they haven't quite worked out a system yet. Despite booking we stood at the entrance being ignored for about 5-6 minutes before being sat at our table where we were completely ignored, not even asked if we wanted drinks, for another ten minutes. Maybe it's the Spanish way.
The result is that customer experience and customer service appear to be an oversight. There is zero smooth flow from entering the restaurant, being sat, fed and leaving. It's like there's so much going on for so slightly too many people, that individual customers get in the way a bit. People try to attract the attention of waiters but it's like they're on a mission and they look straight through the customers until they're ready to serve.
If it was a low-budget cafe it wouldn't matter so much but it's not. As a stylish, mid-range restaurant you expect a bit more.
I get the feeling there's passion, commitment and motivation to do well, serve great food and look after customers but the latter has been forgotten about.
Maybe it's not been open long. Maybe they're frazzled at the end of the season. Maybe it's a victim of its own success.
Sorry to say that if this was a local restaurant to where we live, it's highly unlikely we'd return because of the poor experience...
Read moreI had higher expectations of this place. We ordered Grilled prawns with avocado-melon-ragout and lime vinaigrette as a starter, followed by Ahi poke bowl of rice, raw tuna, avocado, ginger and pineapple, a grilled Grouper fish as a main dish and for desert -- a homemade creamy cheesecake with red fruits and a peach panna cotta. The starter had three tiny prawns that were quite chewy and I had a spoonful of avocado-melon ragout which didn't taste right because the melon was off. The centre of Ahi poke bowl was supposed to be tuna but two small pieces of which were so thin you could barely taste it. The dish was mainly two rice balls. Isn't expensive for a 18.50 euro dish? Again the piece of Grouper fish was absolutely tiny especially as you don't eat the skin (it was quite thick and covered in scale) but the pasta with sun-dried tomatoes that went with it was tasty. So two main dishes and I'm stuffed with carbs. The piece of cheesecake was bigger than I expected based on previous dishes but it was very average. The panna cotta was the only dish that I liked though it could be a bit bigger. The service was slow. So there is a lot of space for...
Read moreOne of the weaker restaurant visits I had in port de soller... Nice atmosphere with friendly service, just a few too many errors that let it down, such as, not looking at the correct date of our booking and therefore missing our booking on the list even though we booked in person 2 days prior, our 3 main courses took around 40 minutes to come after having finished our starters and when they did arrive the potatoes we were given were cool (however when asking for a new bowl of them, they were quick to replace them with no hesitation) etc etc. Generally the restaurant is nice and a good meal and the food quality is unique and tasty however the prices are very high, almost as extreme as the most expensive restaurants in this area such as The Kingfisher with most dishes also costing around 30 give or take. Very nice evening but wouldn't go back purely based on the price and number of...
