Restaurante The Black Bull — Restaurant in Salou

The food is super bad. I wasn't expecting much since I knew Salou is a touristy spot, but the food is bad bad. We ordered a cheese burger and margarita pizza. The burger was like a highschool frozen cafeteria patty and the cheese looks fake. The pizza looked and tasted like highschool cafeteria food. The cheese, the tomato sauce, and the crust, brings me back to highschool cafeteria days. Everyone there was smoking and the cigarette smell was everywhere. And there was a bad, sour smell where we sat.

The waitress was stressed / annoyed, and I can understand why, so I'll give her some slack. The restaurant is quite busy for only two workers to handle. There was only one waitress, who was handling all the customers, and there was one cook in a tiny kitchen who also washes the dishes. So I'll give the cook some slack as well.

Overall, the food was no bueno. 👎 And I knew it wasn't just us because whenever the waitress clears other tables, she throws out a lot of food from the plates.

We just returned yesterday from a week in Salou most of which we spent in the black bull. We were half board but ate here 3 times during our stay. Food was fantastic as were the lovely staff. Their burgers are amazing and the best we tried whilst we were in salou and everything from food to drink was very reasonably priced.

In the evenings myself, my husband and my 10 year old daughter went for the free quiz, after which there was bingo. We only discovered this on our third evening there but we enjoyed it so much we went back for the last 5 evenings of our holiday. We tend to keep to ourselves on holidays, but we met so many lovely people here many of whom return year on year (some going on 20 years) just for the atmosphere of the place.

Our daughter loved it, the staff were great with her, she especially enjoyed the quiz and the bingo and the bacon fries.

This little pub and the lovely down to earth, hardworking staff there and the other customers made our holiday, so much so that we’re looking at going...

Atrocious service. English guy walked passed me saying “all right lads” and walked out(I think he was the manager). A couple of minutes later asked waitress for the bill to be told: you’ll have to wait,he’s gone shopping!” (So she apparently couldn’t manage the till!) .I waited 15 minutes then went and complained .the woman at the bar (possibly his wife ) was very sour faced and offered an insincere apology before totalling up the bill .I paid and she slapped change down with a sarcastic:thank you. I picked up the 5 euros but left small change(had no intention of giving tip due to their rudeness but simply didn’t want coins as can’t exchange them) heard her saying:take it,we don’t want it, but I was already out the door.
