Very unprofessional owner. The food was decent. Thats about the ONLY positive thing i can say. The experience started by being carted onto a tight table even though we clearly had a pram and a sleeping baby to accomodate. We were then ready to order, the owner gave us condescending looks when we told him we just wanted 1 coke and 1 curry with several naans to share between 2 people (we arent very big eaters and previous experience in another indian in Salou taught us to start small and order if we need any more). This put me in an already bad mood to begin with. The owner can be identified in his 50s with glasses and 1 earpod in his left ear (another annoying trait for someone who wants to be taken seriously). Some negative exposure to this man is deserved, i have not experienced an owner so arrogant. A group of 8 lads were waiting for their orders, and while they waited they ordered a lot of drinks (they were also very overpriced may i add). So you would expect the owner to show them some gratitute. When the food came out he constantly shouted "PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR ORDERS" atleast 5 timeas just because the poor group took longer than 0.01second to recognise which curry belonged to whom. Now onto my order. After a 50min wait...... Me, my wife and baby of 13months were told (not asked) to vacate to the outside table. I kindly refused as my baby was asleep, and i did not want to risk her waking up. The owner replied with "its not cold outside baby will be fine". I strongly refused to move and managed to keep my spot indoors. I then overheard him go over to a group of people who were waiting to be seated and he told them he has tried to accomodate them but he cannot do so because a couple sitting over there (he pointed towards us) refused to move.....he gave them no context whatsoever. I was ready to go down for manslaughter at this point, if i didnt have a fear of leaving behind a wife, daughter i would have strangled him in his own restaurant. But i digress, the curry arrived and i counted 5 small chicken pieces only, the rest of the jalfrezi was just overfilled curry sauce. The taste was decent. The price to ratio was very bad. The coke came out, with only 1 glass. As if he was trying to make a strong statement due to us only ordering 1 drink. Clearly you arent allowed to share drinks in this place. He could clearly see we are also all inclusive guests at a local, so had already had a whole day of drinks at this point, and was the main reason why we only ordered small portions.
Moral of the story. Do NOT go to this dump, save your money and go somewhere which would treat you better. Kindness goes a long way. The word Kind is not in this owners vocabulary. I would be more than happy for anyone to reach out to me about this place if you were thinking about visiting here if you want any...
Read moreDecent place for the area, I would not return.
What went wrong, then what went right: A food substitution was made without asking us, my partner asked for a tikka masala and a balti arrived instead. They did not tell us this would be the case, it just arrived. It was too hot in there to even consider asking for a different substitute so we stuck to it. The portion sizes were smaller than we expected, and the prices were not justified by the quality of the food. The menus had pen markings on them all over to indicate new prices, making things harder to read. A large water cost us 4.50. Everything came quickly from ordering, except for when we wanted to pay. We sat for a long time, but the staff resided towards/ in the kitchen for around 20 minutes before they left so we could request that we pay.
What went well: it was fast service until the end. The food is good, but I've had better takeaways at home. The large beer glasses were chilled, though the small ones were not. the staff were friendly and were very attentive to the end. Fans are inside and point to your seats, though if you get the opportunity to choose your seat I'd even consider it a must to pick an area under their influence as it gets...
Read moreUnimpressed with the overall experience at Taj Mahal Salou. First impression failed miserably with very unwelcoming behavior. The owner himself was serving and found him to be rather intimidating and condescending looks. Not sure why he was not in a good mood. But lady there was nice and gentle who perhaps stepped in to pacify the odd situation. We ordered many different dishes to taste different flavours but unfortunately they all looked and tasted pretty much the same. Karahi, Balti, Jalfrezi all have the same curry, they just add chicken, lamb or prawn whatever you order and top with different topping to make it look different, just look at my posted pictures. Even the Qeema was completely bland and tasteless. Biryani was also far from authentic flavour, felt more like curry flavor rice, definitely not Biryani. Chicken tikka starter was nice though. Premium pricing with low portion size. Gave this feedback to the owner he seemed to not care about it at all, said locals like this very much....
