If you go down to Mac's Tearoom today, you're sure of a stunning surprise!
Nestled away, the signs leading to Mac's Tearoom hinted at something special, almost like embarking on an escape room adventure. However, any sense of mystery quickly dissolved into pure delight upon stepping inside. The decor immediately and unmistakably embraced the whimsical world of the Mad Hatter and Alice in Wonderland, creating an atmosphere that was both enchanting and inviting.
The creativity was evident in every corner. The menus themselves were a stroke of genius, presented as decks of playing cards, hinting at the topsy-turvy world within. The tables were thoughtfully arranged, evoking the feeling of being a guest at the Mad Hatter's iconic tea party. A dedicated wall showcased a charming collection of pictures and familiar trinkets from the beloved stories, further immersing you in the theme. While the overall ambiance hinted at a bustling and energetic space, I personally found it wonderfully whimsical and relaxed, a perfect spot to simply sit and absorb the delightful display.
The service I received was truly a highlight. The gentleman who attended to me was an absolute delight – incredibly attentive to my needs and even offering insightful recommendations that enhanced my experience. He ensured I had everything I required, from condiments to sweetener, demonstrating a real commitment to customer comfort. While the service was impeccable, a small touch of subtle fancy dress for the staff would have undoubtedly elevated the immersive experience even further, perfectly completing the visual narrative.
Following a recommendation I'd seen in a solo travelers group on Facebook, I opted for "The Big One," and it certainly lived up to its name! This mammoth meal included two perfectly fried eggs, two succulent sausages, classic Heinz beans, a juicy plum tomato, flavourful mushrooms, two crispy bacon rashers, two golden hash browns, a piece of delicious fried bread, along with coffee and juice – a true English breakfast feast. The quality of the sausage and bacon was exceptional, exceeding my expectations and satisfying my familiar palate. The attention to detail in the presentation was remarkable; everything was served fresh and piping hot.
A truly charming and unexpected touch came with the receipt, presented in a delightful little treasure chest. Inside, along with the bill, was a business card two pieces of chocolate – a small gesture that felt incredibly thoughtful and left me with a genuine sense of being valued. It's these unique details that truly set Mac's Tearoom apart.
In terms of value for money, Mac's Tearoom is simply outstanding. The sheer quantity and quality of the food, combined with the immersive atmosphere and attentive service, far surpass the price. In my opinion, it offers the best experience money can buy in Gran Canaria.
Honestly, I struggle to imagine anyone who wouldn't enjoy a visit to Mac's Tearoom. It's a truly great place that offers a unique and memorable experience for everyone.
My visit to Mac's Tearoom was nothing short of enchanting. From the whimsical decor to the generous and delicious "Big One" and the thoughtful little touches, it was a truly delightful experience.

Read moreWow, what a fantastic find! My partner had heard about Macs Tearoom in Player Del Ingles on Facebook. To get to it, follow the video on their Facebook page! Run my mother father and daughter from the UK for many years. The Tea Room is named after the grandfather, who is no longer here. The tea room is themed on Alice in Wonderland, hence the beautiful pictures on the wall, the decorated tables, the lovely touches on bottles that have a little tag saying "Drink Me'. Proper English breakfasts served throughout the day, beautiful cakes, sandwiches, pies with veg and...well, everything you want from home sweet home. They also have a little shop ' A Taste Of Home' selling...you guess it...food from home. It really is a place to visit on your stay. Lovely people who chat, and have great knowledge of Gran Canaria should you want to ask them. Nothing is too much for them if you ask. We will be...
