Update autumn 2023: Finally, back in Playa del Ingles and back at this amazing Indian restaurant 😃 To our horror, we saw that the restaurant was closed this summer, we had booked our autumn holiday and was looking forward to visiting Tandoori Masala again. A few weeks later, we found out that it was temporarily closed for renovations, and we were relieved. It would reopen before our holiday. We have had two dinners in this new updated restaurant, and the food is just as amazing as always. The new decor is very nice and the new chairs are really comfortable. We had some curries (hot, as we like it) accompanied by rice and naan. We also had the chefs special with Tandoori chicken, cheese, and chillies. Really delicious! Thank you for great food and always sweet and friendly service. If you want Indian food, this is the place to go! We have been at this restaurant many times and it is always a really good experience. The food is amazing and there are plenty of dishes to choose from. You have the option to order from mild to hot (or extra hot), and the scale is quite accurate. My husband loves the Jalfrezi, hot. It is a really tasty dish with a lot of flavour. The naan breads are fresh, varm, and have both texture and are light and crisp. The staff are attentive, serviceminded and so sweet. And then there are all the small things like the cosy decor, the hot hot plates from the oven, the ice cold beer in frosted glasses and so on. I can really recommend this place and I look forward to my...
Read moreBeing a resident we have been loyal customers and eaten here on lots of occasions over the last few years! However a group of 11 of us went here last week for a birthday celebration! We normally get the service from the friendly owners, however on this occasion we had a new tall waiter! The service was very slow and new waiter was not very friendly and quite pushy! The food was as usual good and we had a good time! When we came to pay, we simply split the bill between us, some paying individually or as a couples! I paid by Apple Pay and did not get a receipt or check the transaction, which i normally do! A week later when checking my credit card statement, I noticed the restaurant had taken double what they should have! Therefore I returned to the restaurant and showed them the transaction and asked them to check their till balance for that day for any discrepancies ! The new waiter was very rude and basically accused me of lying! However he did offer me a cheap bottle of wine, which I refused (no compensation for the overcharge of €32)!! I will not be returning to this restaurant, whilst this waiter continues to work there, which is a shame as the food is normally good! If you have the pleasure of his service, please unlike me check your bill and your credit card transactions!! I’m mad at myself for not checking the transaction at the time (totally my fault)! However I expected more from the restaurant when I queried the transaction and not to be treated as badly as I was!! You live...
Read moreSeveral of our Indian friends recommended this place, so upon having a stroll on the main street of Playa del Ingles, Avenida de Tirajana, a big sign with ”Tandoori” appeared in front of us. After some doubt, we decided to give it a try. Don’t let the interior put you off with its slightly shabby details because what’s inside is a hidden gem of flavours waiting for you. A nice young man came to serve us with a gentle voice and was polite in every way. My husband took the Tikka Masala with rice and cheese nan, I took a vegetarian dish that the young man chose with a garlic & cheese nan, accompanied with what, in my humble opinion, must have been the nicest Lassi (a cold yoghurt drink) in Europe. The taste was not too salty and the creaminess was to die for. The food arrived after merely 15 minutes and upon tasting it, I could have sworn to be almost back in Southeast Asia. A swirl of flavours exploded in my mouth with the right touch of spiciness and a lightly sweet touch. My husband’s Tikka Masala came served on a bed of onions, cheese, and soft, juicy chicken. The sauce that went with it came on the side which we greatly appreciate, as we prefer putting sauce ourselves. Each time he took a bite, his eyes would cast up to the sky in a way that only people who eat really good food would do.
The food was so good, that I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. If you’d like a taste of real quality with a kind service, you must...
