Lovely decor, atmosphere, good attentive service. However the food quality just isn't there. Heavy presence of crisps variations in every single dish and complete lack of substance. Lamb confit was particularly disappointing, a crisp ball with lukewarm tiny pieces if tasteless meat inside. Makaroni cheese was equally uninspiring dish. The food was entertaining indeed, but not particularly tasty, which is a surprise. I believe it's the same kitchen that serves a sister restaurant Lola next door where the food is fabulous. Also the tapas are more like a single bite size items. I had to buy a snack elsewhere after having a 9 course tasting menu here in Social Tapas because I was still hungry. The dessert, Crema Catalana was actually very good, full of flavour and where crispy pastry worked really well. Another low point was that several dishes would arrive together following a very long time gap (sometimes over 20 minutes) until the next batch of dishes arrive. Having one dish at a time would be better. As a once off experience it was entertaining but it's very unlikely I'll...
Read moreAfter having enjoyed the magnificence of Lola a few times, we were incredibly excited to learn Social Tapas opened during our most recent visit to Gran Canaria. We were absolutely blown away by the food, the incredible drinks, (including non-alcoholic cocktails for me) and as always impeccable service.
Fabrizio and his team have truly outdone themselves with this menu. I opted for primarily the seafood options, including the tuna tartare, focaccia, and the gorgeous lobster roll. My husband is more of a meat man (with a shellfish allergy), so he had the pork belly, the beef, the duck, the ox tongue, and the potatoes bravas as well as the open tostada. You will not be disappointed by a single thing on the menu and you absolutely must save room for dessert because each bite was worth the wait. So much attention to detail hardly makes my words capable of describing the tastes. The best thing about this menu is that each plate is so totally different. It’s like an entire journey...
Read moreNew restaurant associated with Lola. Tapas were all amazing except the ocean Alfredo which was extremely fishy, most of our group couldn’t eat it. Unfortunately the fish roe was mixed throughout the Alfredo, might be better if they put it on top so those not liking that taste could remove it. Unique modern spin on tapas and we were very satisfied and full at the end, the wine recommendations were on point. We were told that the tapas were indeed not social and too small to be shared, don’t be fooled they could be shared with 2 people easily. We were also confused by the recommendation of 4-5 tapas per person but the tasting menus were 6-8. We ended up doing 9 and we were pretty full but not stuffed having not eaten the ocean Alfredo which was pretty big. Places fills up fast so I recommend reserving well in advanced, they were very kind to squeeze our party in last...
