The BEST and most authentic steak restaurant on the Island. We have been coming here for 10 years now and have failed to have a better meal on in Gran Canaria. This is testament to 3 key factors.
Quality of product - I would suggest the special dry aged cuts as they are full of flavour and cheap in contrast to the UK.
Quality of service - The 2 gentleman running the floor are meticulous and are constantly with their heads on a swivel ensuring all needs are met as quickly as possible.
Steak cooking craftsmanship - if you ask for medium rare, that is what you will get!
Having attended twice last week, we took a slightly different approach on our initial visit and had a chateaubriand cut to share. Whilst the meat was well presented and cut/served at the table, both my wife and I enjoyed the meal but it wasn't the showstopper we were used to. Perhaps our fault for trying something we wouldn't normally. Service was good and I asked if we could return for a special meal on the Sunday.
They clearly took this quite literal, as they had prepped a table with roses and a small lamps for my wife's 30th birthday and were quick to take the order/serve drinks. We were then invited to the fridges to select our cuts. Me choosing a 500g black angus cooked medium and my wife went for a 350g fillet cooked medium....what happened next was a flavour explosion fit for a King. Our steaks were beyond perfection and literally melted in the mouth. We also had the bernaise and peppercorn sauce which were phenomenal.
We thought Madito Carnival up the road (also recommended) had taken the top spot for our favourite ever meal abroad but round 2 at Grill El Asador delivered an immeasurable haymaker of quality and food perfection that is hard to come by.
In summary, there are lots of steak restaurants on the island and some also offer dry aged meat special cuts but with the combination of chefs cooking ability and waiting service, you won't find anything better in terms of steak restaurants I can assure you. Quality that has spanned the last decade and upholds the highest of standards in equal measure.
Take it from someone who has always been around meat and from farming background, this is the only place to go for high quality steak!
I wish we had Grill El Asador in the UK! Thanks again to the staff for such a...
Read moreStarted off well. Shown to a table and ordered wine which arrived straight away. Ordered the food and starters came within 5 minutes. Iberian ham croquettes were not hot enough. Garlic bread was good. Onion soup was good too but ridiculously large portion size that was enough for 2 people. Had we known this we would have ordered it to share.
Then it all went wrong. Sat there and waited for mains. And waited. And waited. 45 minutes later they brought someone else's food to our table. That was taken away having sat in front of us and still served to the correct customer - not very covid safe. 20 minutes later our mains arrived. My partner's steak with mushroom sauce was half fat and gristle. My half chicken was, to be frank, awful. Overcooked, dry, and hardly any meat on it. Fries were very greasy. My partner's baked potato was much better though.
By this time we had waited so long we were late for meeting friends so we just didn't have time to complain and ask for another. We paid and left.
I wouldn't eat here again and I'm slightly amused why it's rated so highly. The food was average at best. The restaurant was not relaxing to eat in as there were waiters constantly rushing past us, and the chef barking orders from the serving hatch. All in all, the worst meal of our holiday (and also the...
