I have owned a home on the Amarilla golf for 22 years during which time I have dined at most of the renouned eateries the area has to offer in Los Abrigos, El Medano, etc, etc. A friend informed me that the head chef of a Los Abrigos Michelin star restaurant Los Roques was now head chef at La mesa, so tonight 16/7/22 I walked across the road from my home to visit La Mesa. Why have I not been here before I asked myself?. from entering the Maitre de greeted my party of 3 with genuine friendly professionalism advising us of the daily specials and accompanying wine. The starters of Queen scallop risotto and garlic prawns were simply divine, my main course of baked cod in a cream sauce with fresh veg and roast potatoes was first class, the house red shiraz was excellent value at âŹ12 a bottle.    Read moreWe returned to La Mesa on the 11th of June, 25 to celebrate that my parents have been married for 59 years. Before our reservation, i popped in to ask a couple of small favours. The staff were very helpful with my requests. On our arrival, we received a lovely welcome. Once seated, the waitress approached the table with a bottle of bubbly and congrated my parents on their special day. The service during our stay was exceptional and very friendly. Even the chef popped out to congratulate my parents. The food was fabulous and good-sized portions, I would highly recommend La Mesa if you plan on having a special night or event.

This is my third visit this year so being on my own it is good to have a restaurant where I feel comfortable and welcome. Often I visit on my own but last night was my birthday so I was joined by friends staying nearby. The regular menu has plenty of choice but on this occasion we chose from the special's. Two of us had confit duck with caramelised apples, potato fondant and a selection of al dente vegetables. The other choice was sea bass with a saffron cream and a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. It's was busy but the staff were very attentive. The complementary Sweet kiss shot was a nice touch. We had quite a long chat with chef who was happy to discuss trade secrets. The only thing we had to wait for was the bill. Thank you for a...
