I had a quick lunch in this place on Monday 20th around 1:30pm with a friend whilst the city was celebrating its patron saint's day with the Tamborrada drum parade. The receptionist founds our a table pretty quickly downstairs and we ordered 2 glasses of chianti, a focaccia basket (that never arrived) and a pizza and a pasta. I asked if the calzone toscano could have been possible to have as pizza instead to be folded as “calzone” and the waitress told me that was not possible. Quite disappointed but understanding of the fact that they were quite busy I ordered a pizza “marechiaro”, whilst my friend ordered “tagliatelle al ragù antico”. Fun fact that you can pick and mix your pasta shape and combining with any sauces of the menu. Food arrived together. Clearly the pasta was much more appealing than the pizza and soon was revealing more tasty too. Pasta was handmade and the sauce was nice and rich, contrarywise to the pizza which resembled a communion wafer base with some tomato halved and anchovies scattered around (not even tomato sauce). My 1 star to this place goes to the service has forgotten my focaccia; the fact that could not accomodate my request of pizza instead of calzone and to the quality of the pizza which was an insult to the Italians and finally to the fact that no one bothered to come around to ask if it was everything ok with the meal. Prize was around 40 euros, and to be honest was not really worthy for it. I did not complained because no one asked me an opinion. However I put 2 and 2 together when I had to pay and they ask me to go up as the card machine was out of reach of network. I paid with the same waitress that served me on the table, whilst the host was busy getting people in and seated, hence I realised that for this restaurant was more important to get as many people in then to listen an honest feedback. So the end of the review is......this is “not an italian” restaurant, therefore if you are looking for it don’t even bother to...
Read moreShockingly bad. I’ve been a fan of this restaurant for years and yesterday we went for my mums birthday as she was over visiting me. When we arrived, there was no music playing and huge carts of laundry in the entrance… hardly an inviting atmosphere. We ordered our food, and as we have done for the past 6 years, asked for bread with the meal instead of as a starter. The waiter told us “we don’t do that”, to which we replied that we had been doing that for years, but never mind. He wasn’t very nice or apologetic about it. Our main dishes arrived quickly but no bread, so then I asked a young guy who looked like a chef for bread and he said “no problem at all!” The other waiter then practically threw the basket of bread at us. We finished our meal and as it was a special occasion we decided to get a dessert to share. We ordered the new “crocante de manzana” though I could have made something better myself by microwaving a biscuit, chunks of apple and a few walnuts. It was laughable comparing to the picture. The icing on the cake was when the waiter brought the bill. This restaurant has a 10€ coupon if it’s your birthday and we told the waiter that we would like to use it. He told us that we couldn’t , as we should have let him know before he brought the bill, as now there was no way to change it. What a birthday treat. I now question- what if the bill had been wrong? Surely he could have changed it. We just got the feeling he didn’t want to.
Really really disappointed in this place. It ruined my mums birthday dinner, and we definitely won’t be back.
I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews for the last few months… and the company responding that they would pass on the message so it didn’t happen again. Obviously the message hasn’t been passed on… or they...
Read moreThat was one terrible experience. Definitely not coming back here. The service was terrible. Our waitress treated us very disrespectfully, almost throwing plates and glasses on our table, not even looking at us while serving us. As if we weren’t worth her time. I appreciate that it was a busy night for the waitress, but don’t treat your clients with disrespect.
Then when the food came, again, the plates were thrown on our table. We obviously needed more plates, but again, the waitress was gone before we could even ask for more plates.
We then asked for the manager, and the actual “boss” treated us with the same “I’m busy attitude” and stormed off. Absolutely ridiculous.
Eventually we spoke to the hostess who was friendly. We told her about our bad experience and she at least was apologetic.
The food itself was also bad. The pizza was thin and watery and looked more like a burnt focaccia then a pizza.
Definitely don’t recommend going here. I hope they read this review and use...
