El Nuevo Waikiki Tasca Restaurante — Restaurant in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

We went there guided by the reviews about the paella thinking it would be good, as we wanted one, but we were really disappointed

First the paela is 55€ for 2 which is expensive, really for what it is, it shouldn't be more than 40€

Second it was way over salted and the rice was overcooked. It had no taste, just a burning salt sensation, I have had paellas 10 times better in Spain

When we complained about how salty it was, which was after 10 minutes of waiting to be noticed by the waitresses, the dish came back with the answer "the cook says it's fine, and since you started it already we cannot do anything about it", because we ate the shrimps and mussels in it, sorry if we cannot know if the dish is going to be good without putting it in our mouth🤦, keep in mind this was a 71€ meal, not even a good faith gesture was proposed like at least a glass of water to sooth the burning salt sensation

So I do not recommend this place at all, you just don't get what you pay for and the customer handling is absolutely shameful, especially after reviewing some answers of...

Very nice place, cozy square. Two of us had a garlic shrimps as a starter and fried sea food and octopus as a main meal. Well, the personal lack a profesionalism too much. Such a small details as a cutlery must come before the food is served, not after, empty, dirty plates must be taken away when the waiter comes, not when it's been asked to do, a loaf of bread can't be as hard as a rock, it must be fresh or crispy, but not as a tool to use as a hammer. The personal must learn the basics, period. Must say they were nice and pleasant. The food, on the other hand is worth of applauses. One of the best octopus we had on the island. No doubt about the kitchen - recomended. I wish the crew of restaurant to improve with a service, to be much more vigilant of what's going on on the table. Today we arrived with my daughter to Teneriffa, it is Not my first time here. But north of the Island we explore first time, and it is just beautiful. And i highly recommend "Tela Marinera Restaurant ", we started from here, the food is just amazing!! Julieta was so patient and friendly with me, my spanisch is so poor, but I understood her, she understood me, she helped us to make right choice about food. And it was so delicious, i did Not expect that. My daughter was already sleepy, so Eduardi and Gabi were reacting quickly on my request to take dessert away (we living 3 min away from).. I opened now, Ice Cream was parked very careful and beautiful. Thank you so much, guys!! Thanks for attention, and due to covid all required measurements were carefully taken..
