I've visited many Indian restaurant's over the year's but last night's visit to the Taj Mahal Santander was the worst by far the service by the waiter very poor didn't seem interested in his job, for starters I had prawn puri the prawn sause was ok but the puri was soggy no crispiness to it the wife had popadom there was only one with a little chilli and mint sauce price 1€ most Indian restaurant's give you 2 or 3 free, for second course I had chicken Madras and my wife had chicken curry both dishes extremely salty not very nice at all and the nan breads not cooked enough. We asked for white wine but no wine list was offered but the wine was decent still had to ask for a cooler for the wine. The restaurant is very nice and clean inside with clean toilets but as for the food forget it the people who run this establishment should pay a visit to the Indian restaurant's in the Raval district of Barcelona or visit the curry mile in Manchester they would learn how to cook and run an Indian restaurant. I would give it a score of 1 out of 5 and that was for the wine. The bill for two people came to 38€.

Read moreCan Indian food be made without any spices besides salt? Apparently this restaurant thinks so. Our curries had all the flavor of a boiled potato, and the vegetable curry was clearly made with a bag of frozen vegetables. (You can tell by the way the carrots are cut, their consistency and their complete lack of flavor.) When we left the restaurant we happened to notice the guy we thought was the owner eating dinner at the restaurant next door. (The fact that he wasn't eating at his own restaurant is telling.) My wife went in to tell him, politely but clearly, that the food was not good. He blamed three things: the cook was new, the cook is a local guy (not Indian) and the owner, who is normally the cook, was on vacation. Apparently, in the owner's haste to leave for vacation, he forgot to leave the new cook any recipes or, for that matter, any guidance about how to cook Indian food. Whether the food is any different when the owner is there will be for...
Read moreI went for lunch today and was very disappointed. Only two sauces were served with the poppadoms (no mango chutney) and very little of both. We ordered prawn puri and vegetable samosas, both of which lacked any real flavour. Both the curries we ordered had a thick layer of grease floating on the top (it's nearly midnight and I've still got heartburn) and the chicken was tough and dry (the chicken tikka in one dish was better). No rotis or chapattis were available but the garlic naan was okay. The mushrooms in the mushroom basmati rice were clearly out of a tin. I mean, what would it cost a restaurant to use fresh mushrooms? Being from Bradford, curry is probably what I miss the most from home but sadly this...
