Went to Port Petit after reading reviews and knowing they’re in the Michelin guide. We should have done otherwise.
We are being welcomed by a very nice waiter and the other waiters are also greeting us. A nice touch is that lots of waiters are serving your table. There is a wine-guy, a guy to take food orders and girls to serve the food. We order wine and food and everything is good by now. However, here it stops:
Wine-waiter does a fancy pour and spills lots of drops of the €65 wine.
One of us ordered lobster and it was the smallest portion seen to man. The tail was max 5 cm long, the arms and the legs were missing. €50 for half a lobster and some rice which should be a whole lobster.
4 of us ordered Chateaubriand. 3 had no issues, but the last one had soooo many tendons so it was literally impossible to cut (and eat of course). Here is where the nice waitering stopped. We complained over the meat being bad. One waiter took the plate, they heated the meat so it’s now well-done and not medium. We complained that that was not the problem. Another waiter was called, and she nicely said that she would have to call her boss. As he came down, he was already pissed at us. Telling us that it’s all from the same cut. That might be true, we told him, but the meat is impossible to cut and eat. He just said “what do you want me to do” and refuses to give us a new plate of meat. Lots of drama and almost yelling at us.
We were offered to have €35 deducted for the bill (equivalent to that dish), but apparently we now see that we were only deducted €17.
The good stuff: Placement is exceptional with a very nice view over the harbour. Most of the staff is very nice and welcoming. Honestly it seems like they are limited by a...
Read moreWould not recommend this restaurant. The food is absolutely mediocre at it’s best, some dishes are very overprized. We had higher expectations due to review and the restaurant being mentioned in Michelin guide (cannot understand how it can be true…)
We chose the small tasting menu (about 45€ per person) , and chose to go with the spring roll and langostinis for entres. The spring roll was a joke, one spring roll on a mixed salad bed that’s the similar kind sold i grocery stores in a bag + wakame salad?!? And one small spring roll. I would be ashamed to serve this for 19€ (if not chosen in the menu). Absolute joke. The fried langostinis were ok, but nothing more than that.
For mains we had the duck and the sea bass. Duck consisted of four slices of duck breast, and compared to a picture from another customer uploaded the day after, who had had 8 slices(?!?) it seemed like a scam for our part. Served with again the same mixed-salad from a bag, and a small ball of croquette. Not classy… The sea-bass was ok, but nothing special. Would give it 2,5/5. Dessert was a small chewy and dry-ish pastry with lemon sorbet and a few drops of other sauces. Overall the dinner was not worth it.
The service was ok. Waitres/waitresses changed constanly although everyone was friendly and nice (we had about 5) but a bit hasty at times, and were forgotten at times (had to ask for the dessert/wine that we ordered and ask for the bill several times).
The place is quite beatiful in a nice location overlooking the marina in Cala d’or, but would NOT recommend. We were disappointed and want to give others considering this...
Read moreThis is NOT a Michelin starred restaurant!! It is in the Michelin guide and is distinctly average. Bland and tasteless meal. Lots of old regulars which may account for all the good reviews?
The amuse bouche was terrible: dollop of mashed potatoes with canned tuna and hot sauce; it would have been better not to serve anything. I ordered prawns in puff pastry; they were very greasy, and the mango salsa arrived frozen. The waiter said they had briefly put it in the freezer because it was so hot, but it was freezer burnt and not freshly made. Same with the pineapple - not fresh. I ordered the confit cod, but it had been cooked in water and poorly drained, so the mashed potatoes underneath were watery and tasteless. It was too bland to eat and came with half a tinned artichoke and a smear of bitter tomato sauce. The tomato sauce was either too reduced or burnt, as it was so bitter. Despite this, everything was bland. When I didn’t eat my main the waitress was rude. We weren’t given the chance to choose desserts, they just slammed down the dessert from the set menu, but by that point we just wanted to leave. It was the worst meal we've had in Mallorca and wasn't helped by a waiter dripping sweat into our glasses. I didn't want to anger the manager, as she had already been rude to another table, so I didn't tell her just how bad it was front of other diners, but they are advertising that they’re...
