Visited yesterday as the aesthetic is always nice for a for an intimate evening meal. Things started ok, drinks served promptly and the starters were great however, we decided to share the mixed seafood platter and what we were served was a selection of lobster, scallops, muscles and monkfish that were very salty and clearly had been overcooked / over boiled in salt water. The squid was tough as leather and overcooked and one of the lobster claws was actually raw.
When we raised this with a staff member they took it back to h the r kitchen to cook for longer. 25 mins passes and when we challenged the poor quality of the food and service to what we suspect was the manager he just said he would go and get it. It took another 10 mins to return and by this point the lobster had stuck to the shell.
There was no attempt to make things right and we were still charged the full bill of over 100 euros. Disappointed is an understatement, we visited this restaurant a few years back and it was picture perfect, couldn’t fault it. I understand the evening services can be very busy but it’s up to the establishment to ensure their staff are properly trained to handle the footfall and keep guests happy, it is evident that isn’t the case as it seemed there were a lot of younger staff who may lack experience in this setting.
Unfortunately though it’s a shadow of its former self, it was clear other guests were unhappy with the service from some of the looks, chatter surrounding us so save your well saved holiday spending money and give your custom to another place because we will NOT be...
Read moreHaving eaten here a number of times over the years Aquarius is now on a downward trajectory - it's a great location and has an extensive menu (perhaps too much so) but the quality of the food is hit and miss and service is misplaced.
For the location - you can't go wrong... on the Cala D'Or side of the marina with lovely views especially as night falls and the lighting changes.
To eat we had a mix of seafood, meat and paella. To start with the good... the paella was excellent - probably the best I have had in the last few seasons on the Island. The meat dish that was competently cooked - although hard not to get it right on a mixed kebab. However, the fish dishes were a not up to expectations - this is disappointing because may people go to the marina specifically for seafood. The cod was inconsistently cooked - almost like it had been left under a lamp for too long and the salmon on mixed seafood skewers was well overcooked (and the salmon fillet on the adjacent table looked similarly over). Desert was awful - who puts warming winter spices in a crème brûlée in summer? - and even if you like that fusional twist the three that we had wildy different in consistency and flavour.
The service was initially fine - but it became less attentive as the meal went on. We realised that they were more interested in turning the tables over for perspective covers instead of looking after those that were already eating.
At more than €35 per head it is simply...
Read moreI normally don’t write bad reviews, especially during the times that service industry is suffering and they need support, however this time I felt the urge to warn fellow people enjoying their holidays: Avoid this place. We were tricked by the queue in front of the restaurant and its high google rating however our experience was such a disaster. We made reservations for 21:30, we were there at 21:20 and had to stand up in front of the restaurant for THIRTY MINUTES with no explanations or apologies whatsoever, apart from a brief mumble saying “yeah its crowded”. Multiple tables became free, but they didn’t seat us because they are tables for four (we were two) though they seated people with reservations later than ours, while we were still waiting, which we found super unprofessional and greedy. After 30 minutes of standing in front of the restaurant, finally we got seated, and food was only mediocre. We had dinners all around the strip and that was clearly the worst experience. Definitely will not come again, and would advise you to check other restaurants around instead of this one. Also, don’t force your waiters to wear ties man its 35...
