Me & my partner are on holiday and was venturing along the marina looking for a cuisine for our dinner on the night.
We was greeted with a very kind & polite gentleman who explained their menu in detail and gave us suggestions based on our interests. Additionally, the gentleman brought us over two glasses of Champagne/Prosecco for free.
One of the servers described a fish special that was caught earlier that morning & brought it to us to describe its flavour, diet and texture - if I enjoyed fish then I would’ve absolutely ordered that!
For starters we had some Bread & Aioli & for our mains, I ordered a meat paella and my partner ordered a margarita pizza. The servers also allowed me to have a portion size of paella just for one instead of portion size for sharing.
The starters came out with the bread being warm as if it was just baked, some Aioli and complimentary olives. The bread was delicious, the Aioli was full of flavour and the Olives were lovely!
Now for the exciting part, the main course!!
My Meat paella was served on this round cast iron skillet that it was cooked in & looked incredible. Now for the flavour… there’s unfortunately not an adjective that could compliment this dish enough! The flavour was incredible… this was my first ever paella and didn’t know what to expect but it completely blew my expectations out of the water. It was so full of flavour, the meat was cooked perfectly and the portion was just the right size.
My partner’s margarita pizza came out which looked beautifully and from the first bite, she was in love with it. She’s a big pizza lover & said this was one of the best pizza’s she’s ever had. Thankfully, there was a few slices left which I had the pleasure of enjoying too!
For dessert, my partner enjoyed a nice Rosé whilst I enjoyed two flat white coffees which were delicious. Again, the server was very kind and helped my partner choose which Rosé to go for as she was unsure on which one to get and she was very happy with his suggestion.
To finish the experience we were generously given four shots of limoncello.
As an overall statement for someone that was looking for a nice meal out in Cala’dor…. I would highly recommend that you went to Solimar! The servers were so funny, kind & polite. The food was incredible!…. Would highly recommend the Meat Paella! The view was lovely overlooking the Marina, the price was incredible as we had so much food drink and only came to €49. To finish the night, you were sent on a lovely farewell from all of the staff!
We’re going to come back on our last night as we rated it one of the best experiences we’ve had & the best food we’ve had so we can only say Thank you very much...
Read moreAmazing restaurant located in the heart of Cala d’Or Marina. We ate here twice during our recent holiday. The service is second to none, food is lovely and the cocktails are phenomenal. The attention to detail is really there, the cocktails come served in their respective glasses which is a lovely touch. The barman really knows what he is doing.
The dessert experience is like nothing we’ve seen before. The fresh homemade desserts are brought down to your table after dinner as your ‘dessert menu’ which we thought was super cool as you get to see what you’re picking for dessert.
Miguel who looked after us on both evenings really cares about the customer dining experience & he is super lovely. We were celebrating my birthday on one of the evenings so he arranged our reservation & made sure we had the table we liked. The staff are super friendly & attentive, checking on tables to take empty plates and following up on drinks. Solimar is not to be missed if you’re...

We ordered chateaubriand for four people, expected a little show as we watched it being sliced, they tell you it will be cooked to your spec on a hot stone in front of you. In fact it was done on another table where we couldn’t see anything. The meat was good, but the small portion of potato and veg were cold by the time we got the meat, and a bit greasy. We did actually think we would get that plate with potatoes and veg for each person but it was to share, so we had tiny portions - and they absolutely did not care or have any intentions of doing anything about it when I asked if that was all we got. I had also ordered an adult portion of bolognese for my 16 year old, and it looked like a baby’s plate, she ate it in four forkfuls. We only had one soft drink each, no waiters around to be able to order another. Their excuse ‘it’s dinner time, everyone is busy”. Duh. So I spent 200 euros and we left...
