We have been to the restaurant several times previously as we are in Cala dor regularly due to having a property here. The previous occasions have been good so we duly returned. I wish we hadn’t ! I will not return again and I don’t say this lightly.
We ordered our food and requested that one dish ( prawn starter ) could come out with the mains as it was for a child. That didn’t happen but we told the staff and they took it back inside. He however clearly re - served the same prawns 10mins later as they were now cold and tough but we let it go. After our mains were taken away our younger daughters went to look at the lobster tank and asked for the desert menu. Our orders were not taken for another 45 mins although the restaurant was now quieter. Some 30mi s later the desert had not arrived. We asked three times for this and were not met with an apology but simply it is coming. We eventually gave up and asked for the bill several times , we weren’t given this as clearly they were quickly trying to sort out the deserts. The owner was shouting at his staff and we said we simply wanted the bill as it was really late and we no longer wanted deserts having eventually been waiting 45 mins. They came with the bill with the deserts and tried to force them upon us. After we refused they slammed the bill down aggressively and then left. No apology again. They then refused to come to our table so we went inside the restaurant to pay. Once again no apology but just rudeness bordering on intimidation, so much so that some other customers asked if we were ok as they had witnessed the whole event !! Outrageous behaviour! A simple apology for the lack of desert was all that was needed rather than being treated as though we were the...

The girlfriend and I were the first and only people in there to start with, we wanted to sit by the edge to get the dock view however the only tables "on offer" were 4 seaters. We were put at a table in the corner which came with seating in an L shape (suitable for couples, not) and a dirty and torn table cloth. Being our last night in Cala Do'r we were in high spirits that the situation would improve so we ordered.
With everything ordered, the drinks arrived. They weren't anything fancy, just some fantas, however they failed to find some clean glasses to serve us these said drinks (bearing in mind we were still the only customers)
Whilst waiting for food we decided to get romantic and turn the chairs from the L shape formation to opposite each other, this was a NO NO! The waiter promptly came over and asked if we had authority to make this change, to which we obviously wondered what the issue was. He said that if other people come we would have to move mid meal to accommodate them. We decided to move from the dock view to further inside the restaurant to prevent being further disturbed... you know, just incase some other customers decided to actually eat at the restaurant.
Anyway, food arrived and we were not impressed, the food portion was inadequate, the chicken was pink, the undersized jacket potato was ruined by tacky tinfoil and oversized portion of half mixed garlic mayo to top it off with the side of dry veg, whilst getting very annoyed with the whole experience I did wonder how you actually make veg dry, I couldn't come up with an answer.
We soon left after leaving half the food without leaving a tip and took to leaving this review, the only downside is that you can't leave less...
Read moreHaving dined in several restaurants within Santanyi over the past 10 days, this evening we decided to visit Cala d’Or Marina.
Restaurante Zocalo disappointed.
Our experience and opinion is that you are paying for the location rather than the quality of the food and service.
Waiting staff were good but let down and what appeared cowered under by the manager/owner who showed little in the way of customer service and leadership and who failed to welcome or positively engage with his customers.
Food was very average in comparison to other restaurants we have dined in outside of Cala d’Or.
Astounded to be charged €8 for 1 litre of (still non-bottled/unbranded) water to cap it all off.
Recommendation to venture out of town for better quality of food...
