Oops! This one doesn't fall in line with the previous reviews I read, which actually determined me to choose El Cochifrito Plaza, for a family lunch. Generally we are ordering "a la carte", however this time we went for the Menu Plaza (currently at 25.90 euros/person) which included a... cochifrito, that I unfortunately ordered. This so called 'cochifrito' came as a combination of mostly diced bones with very little dry and overly salty rubbery meat, It actually vaguely resembled to fat dry bacon (with bones). A cochifrito comes with bones, however it gives one the chance to still enjoy some meat, wich was totally impossible. I had the other members of my family try this dish to no avail. Practically only the starters constituted enjoyable food, as the 'secreto de cerdo (chosen by the other family members) was undercooked and the dessert was a stalled tiramisu (tentatively sampled by a member of the party), which I actually skipped altogether. Here's the problem: Upon bringing this matter to the waiter, I had to face Vanessa, who has still a lot to learn on her soft skills, as she didn't even want to acknowledge any fault on their side and didn't want to subtract the cost of the uneaten food from the bill. Upon disputing the bill charges, she went that far as threatening us with the local police and such. To prevent further loss of time and nerves, I paid her the full bill, for a disastrous lunch. Conclusion : To make the story short I would say that in our many trips and restaurants' visits we never met such rude attitude and lack of customer care. We rarely returned any ordered item and always got it removed from the bill. If you are brave enough, then you could consider this restaurant, keeping in mind that should a problem occur it may not be solved to your satisfaction, you may end up facing a very unfriendly attitude and ruin your...
Read moreThis was my favorite restaurant in Segovia. We had gone to Jose Maria's to try to cochinillo, and then we took to the charming streets of Segovia. Precious be shopping. You cannot stop Precious from shopping. I went to check out the aquaduct and that castle place. By 8 p.m. we were tired and looking for some chow. I like the beer Estrella Galicia so we went through the square looking for a restaurant that had it. That Mahou stuff is sewage. A waitress at a place a couple of doors down sent us to this place. We were so glad we went there. We started with some appetizers. We started with some sardines which had a powerful taste. We got some croquetas. During our visit in Spain I fell in love with croquetas. Then we decided we'd get the bacalao dish. Oh man it was so good. And washing it all down with my then favorite Spanish cerveza. One thing I like is watching the wait staff. Because tipping is not a thing, restaurants have to pay a full salary to wait staff, and they never hire enough people. The wait staff at any Spanish restaurant is so busy rushing to take orders, bring dishes and bus tables. We had a precious waitress. As it got later and more diners came, they had another young lady and a dude added to the wait staff. They all hustled. They're were all pleasant just like most people in Spain. After we finished eating, we were hanging out enjoying the night, and it started raining. At first it was just a little. The tarps and umbrellas were sufficient, but then a real downpour came. We took our drinks inside to finish them off. All in all it was a great experience right in the main plaza of a charming little city with great...
Read moreFood: We ordered the suckling pig and the lamb chops, both with oven baked potatoes instead of fries. The pork was soft and juicy and the lamb cooked just the right amount, with enough meat to make me feel satisfied, and both dishes tasted great. The table next to us ordered the roast lamb, which looked delicious, but was for minimum 2 people. For dessert I had the tiramisu, which came with a bit of coffee icecream. I would have liked it to have a bit stronger rum taste, but it was good.
Service: The service was great, the people were very friendly, welcoming and service minded, which made a good meal even better.
Location: We dined inside, but an outdoor area is available. Inside it was clean and stylish, with a nice atmosphere and soft background music which complimented the place. The restaurant is ca. 50 meters from the cathedral, so I recommend reserving a table first, go visit the cathedral for an hour (or two, if taking the tour) and then come back for a...
