Bar La Cantina — Restaurant in Seville

We went here for dinner on our last night in Seville, primarily for the "they write your name/order on the wall" experience, and were amazed by the friendliness, the delicious seafood, and the ambience. This little store was hard to find at first, probably because we went there close to opening time, and there weren't very many customers sitting at the outdoor tables (there is in fact no indoor seating). The lady in charge of the store was super friendly and helpful. The language barrier was no problem, and we got along just find with my basic restaurant-level Spanish and her (presumably) basic English. She and the other wait staff even bravely called out my name several times during the meal, to indicate that our food was ready to be picked up at the counter. Bustling with locals and serves fantastically fresh seafood at very reasonable prices. It gets crowded so just belly up to the bar, order your food and drink. Your order is written/tracked under your name on the bar wall tile. Drinks are handed over immediately, but your name is called a few minutes later whenever your food is ready. A perfect glass of beer or wine is €1.20-€2. My mission was to get polpo (octopus) and I don’t think I could find a more satisfying dish in Seville. The food is great and the price is very reasonable! There’s some food are out of menu like the scallop, I have to show the picture from google to get it.

The people who serve can hardly speak English and google translate on their menu is not completely reliable either. I thought I ordered garlic prawns but turn out to be garlic clams on the menu. If want prawns, have to ask separately.

The service isn’t too great because they can’t speak English and easily misunderstood my order. When I ask for a second Rioja I got a glass of white wine.
