I am a writer and editor and I came here to work. I was working on a book on my tablet when the manager came up to me and told me that using tablets and computers was forbidden. It's a very good practice - if they were consistent. I don't think they didn't see that most of the people sitting in the café were busy on their smartphones, which is why I'm here writing this comment on my phone. It's a nice idea to encourage people to read books, but you can't do it with bans.
On 2 August 2024, I am adding to my comment on the response from the business: I understand from your response that the main issue is not to keep people away from the screen or to encourage them to read books, but to prevent them from sitting for hours while working on the computer and ordering less. I remind you that it is possible to read a book or work on a "smartphone" for hours by ordering 1 cup of coffee. Rather than trying to prevent people, you could make your point clearly, so that people like me come to your café knowing what to do. When I said I was looking for a quiet place to work in Seville, many people recommended your café. It seems you have created a false image. Maybe you could think about it a...
Read moreVery cosy place with a quiet courtyard (which is a rare thing at lively Alameda that never sleeps) where you can just read a book from a variety of volumes in different languages on the shelves inside. The collection is better than in some local second hand book shops and you can actually buy the one you liked - the same price of 5 euros for anything. There is a special section with picture books for children so you can easily see a reading kid while his mum enjoys the conversation with friends over a cup of coffee or a glass of beer. Definitely LGBT friendy place - it is not like a surprize nowdays but here it is not a commercial move to attract the target audience but rather a slight touch of amicability to welcome people who appreciate those little things that make you feel like...
Read moreI found the environment to be quite unfriendly, despite being promoted on the reviews as digital nomad-friendly. There were signs indicating that computers were not allowed, which was contradictory. Additionally, the restroom was unclean and lacked toilet paper, and our request for assistance from the staff was ignored. While the infusion teas and coffees were enjoyable, I can only give one star due to the rude behavior of the staff. When we asked for the WiFi password, the employee an Italian guy implied that we needed to order additional food, even though we had already ordered and consumed our meal, which was unprofessional and disappointing. We won’t recommend this place to others, nor do we...
