Overpriced with their confusing and pretentious service. The wine, bread, and a significant portion of the menu are good, the texture of the meat and seafood is commendable, showcasing fresh ingredients. The dessert is delicate. Most of the dishes were fine, but some were just too strong – left me feeling salty after a couple of bites. Not my thing, but people have different taste, maybe their clients enjoy it. And about 70% of the menu is actually pretty tasty. What really confused me is their attitude about feedback. They ask for opinions, but it feels like they don't really wanna hear it. I didn't complain about the food, just said 'I don't like it' when asked. But they seemed surprised anyone would say something negative. So, some of them keep asking why I don’t like it and I gave my reasons afterwards. That’s it. I don’t really want to discuss it. No point hassling them when I'm just passing through Sevilla. I just wanted to pay and leave. Upon payment, a member of the staff delivered a pretentious remark, implying that if my taste differs from their chef's, it's solely my personal thing. Because they used good ingredients and their way of cooking is decent. This response left me deeply surprised. When he suddenly started the conversation, I assured him that no apology was necessary since he wasn't responsible for the menu or its preparation. And he becomes pretentious. Why ask for opinions if they only want admirations? I do not have a right to not like the food I had? Every restaurant can have a few dishes that don't meet expectations. It’s subjective. However, when a restaurant prioritizes admiration over honest critique and doubts its client' opinions, it becomes pretentious.

We recently enjoyed a late lunch at Eneko Basque in old town Sevilla. The restaurant, located in the basement of Radisson Collection Hotel Magdalena Plaza Sevilla, offers a modern yet cozy ambiance. The seating arrangement includes traditional tables and chairs, but also round booths with comfortable bolstered benches and cushions, providing both coziness and privacy. Eneko Basque offers both an à la carte menu and two tasting menus: a 5-course option for 59 euros and a 7-course option for 79 euros. Wine pairings are available for 20 or 35 euros for 4 wines, including one sherry. The dishes are well-composed, predominantly featuring fish or seafood, and while all were tasty, some courses stood out, such as the marinated raw tuna combined with mushrooms, showcasing umami at its best. Pescetarian modifications were easily accommodated. The service was friendly, passionate, and competent, enhancing our dining experience. The kitchen is viewable behind windows, adding an interesting element to the meal. Eneko Basque offers excellent value for high-quality food and wine in a comfortable, cozy setting.

SEGUNDA VISITA. Poco después sentaron a otra pareja. No obstante, volveremos. PRIMERA VISITA.

Such a shame that at a place with such great food, the service is so bad.

About the service:

After being placed at our table, it took ages until someone came over to give us the menus and even ask if we wanted to drink something. Then when the first dish arrived, there was no explanation of what it was or whatsoever - they just left it there and good luck to us! For all other dishes, they gave us a brief explanation.

We ordered one of their menus with wine pairing, and after the first dish arrived we kept waiting for someone to bring the first wine and nothing... We had to call one of the waiters and ask for it. It felt like they forgot all about it.

It was the same with the bread...we saw them serving bread to all other tables while no one came to our table. We again had to call a waiter and ask for it.

About the food and wine:

I must recognize that the food was absolutely flawless and tasteful. However, the wine pairing was really bad. I'm not such a great wine connoisseur, but my husband is and both of us couldn't even finish some of the wines served. They were from known spanish producers, but they were their "entrance" wines (or cheapest ones) which you don't expect in a place with a refined gastronomy like this.

In summary, I wouldn't go back due to the amateur service and terrible...

Horrible experience . Booked for dinner as it was on Michelin guide so obviously should be great but I was wrong ! First ordered cocktails and bottle of sparkling water .. had to ask second time for the water which never came and had finished our appetizer -water only arrived for main course … ridiculous ! The bread was stale had to send it back to get fresh bread . I didn’t want the tasting menu and only wanted a la carte Had a great appetizer or tuna tart which was beautifully presented and tasted great but was 1 bite only … Then everything went went more downhill from there . Ordered the fried anchovies as entree and sides of green salad and fried peppers The waiter brought out food and it wasn’t the anchovies it was substituted for red mullet and the server did not ask us if this is acceptable but simply said they were out of anchovies !! I’ve never had a restaurant substitute for another entree without asking! Very unacceptable and unprofessional ! The green salad was not edible .. was simply iceberg lettuce cut up with a few tiny cherry tomatoes . Even the hard partof the lettuce was thrown in yuk This would not be served at a basic restaurant let alone recommended by Michelin guide I do NOT recommend this restaurant as there are far better...
