Long story short - one of the waiters shouted across the restaurant at us "Go ** yourself". Imagine hearing that shouted at you across the bar!

Longer story... My partner and I decided to pop in a grab a vermuth. It was around 3.20pm. As we entered, most of the tables were busy and there was a guy being served a coffee at the bar. As we stood at the bar, we got the sense that we were being ignored by the guy who had just served the coffee. Another guy came from the back and asked us what we wanted so we asked for two vermuths. His response was, "Wer're closed!". I wouldn't normall, but it seemd like a strange interaction to have so I asked why he asked me what I wanted if they are closed. My thinking being that it's much better to tell people when they enter that the bar is closed so they don't waste any more time and everybody understands the situation. At this point the previous server, also said "We're closed!". So I said, on the way out of the bar, "Why didn't you say that before?". His response to this was, "Why did you come to the bar when it is closed?". Now I understand that we were late for lunch service and I do understand the fact that bars close but this person clearly believes that everybody in the world knows what time his bar closes. My girlfriend responded to him by saying, "Because you look open. People are eating and drinking!". This is when he through out the words "Go ** yourself!" for all to hear. An absolutely deluded human who has zero customer service skills and has to lower himself to the level of insulting clientel when asked a simple question. From what I have read on here, this is not an isolated incident and it seems that the previous manager / owner built a reputaion that is slowly being driven into the ground by younger less caring staff members. I can't vouch for the food or atmosphere, but, after this experience there is no way we will be returning. There are many places in Sitges that deserve our money. It is just unfortunate that there are enough tourists for this place to always remain busy and make money. If it had to rely on local custom alone - I am sure that it wouldn't be as busy. This person, and this establishemnt as a result of employing hime, do a disservice to the service industry of both Sitges and Catalunya. Keep it up by all means - I will enjoy reading the ever increasing 1...

I’ve been to Sitges many times and wanted to visit El Cable - the queue has always put me off. This time we were staying very near so we were able to go for the start of dinner service. Doors opened, we were able to choose our own seats and service started. The staff were super helpful and gave advice on dishes and how many to order etc. Unfortunately there were at least 3 dishes that were unavailable - no problem, it happens. Order taken, food came out quickly and when ready. Service was good throughout the meal - I dropped my fork and a new one was brought almost immediately without even asking. Food was good but nothing stood out as excellent. Not even the award winning dishes. Thinking back, the duck nest was probably the best dish but, I’ve had better duck. I think I was just expecting something more from a place with constant queues. In a nutshell, prices are good, service is good, food is good but...

DO NOT RECOMMEND! DO NOT GO! If you value service and friendliness, this is definitely not the place for you! We walked in and decided to sit at a table for 4 (it was 2 of us) and we were rudely shown to move to a smaller table (only with rude body language) by a young guy. He then came over and we said hello and asked if we could get menus (which he should have brought to us anyway). We used PLEASE. He then said we should say hello when we get in and ALL THAT. Then he threw the menu at our tables as if we were some cockroaches or creatures out of this planet. He had a nasty attitude and a horrible look on his face. We then got up and left the place just like a normal person with self-value would do. I would put it down to either racism, homophobia or just nasty human nature. Will never ever attempt to go back and just wish that guy was fired because this is the bottom level of customer service you...

Authentic bar with many tapas choices. We had a reservation up the road so we had a drink here while we waited. The bar personal were super efficiënt and friendly. We checked the menu and it’s full off amazing tapas. We were here just before 20.00 and we were told that 2 of the menu were sold out already. If this was not the case we would have cancelled our reservation up the road for sure. It was great of the guy to let us know straight away. We will be back here for sure when we are in Sitges. Atmosphere here is brilliant. Nice a decor, great staff, lovely beers/vermouth and wines and we will love to try the food for sure. Great traditional place that is frequented by locals and tourists alike.

We was very excited to dine here after reading such great reviews, however, it is nothing special. I have family in Barcelona so am well aquatinted with tapas and I do not believe this was anything spectacular. The food was mediocre. Fast service, and food arrived promptly. They have won a lot of awards, and are clearly still very proud of this achievement, however the most recent award was about 10 years ago. However, the Duck Nest was quite nice. The service (well what service) they didn’t even show us to our table, just pointed and says over there. Then threw one menu down on the table. The aesthetic was nice, and the decor was quaint.

Authentic Sitges culinary experience. The best meal of our trip said my discerning husband after 3 weeks on the road. I have to agree. The atmosphere, the service and the quality of the food were outstanding. We went for tapas and a drink but instead were blown to the moon with unique flavors in the ribs tapas, crisp anchovies, and the best patatas bravas this side of Catalonia. The place was vibrating with a frequency that makes your heart and soul smile. Loved the servers whose names I forgot to learn because I was so enamored with their professionalism. Go here but be ready for a wait. It is worth it!
