Party of 3 went for evening meal about 6:30pm took ages for someone to come to table and ordered drinks another age for someone to return to take order 3 starters 1mushrooms 1 prawns 1 scrambled egg with prawns, these to a while to arrive but all the starters were very good and lots of it. Then it just went downhill from there 3 mains ordered 1 chicken 1 lamb & 1 vegetarian Lasagne, after an age Lasagne & Chicken arrived still waiting for the lamb, the Vegetarian noticed that there was meat in her meal so when lamb arrived we told the waiter who apologised and said there had been confusion in the kitchen and offered aubergine lasagne instead, food was tasty & plenty, took ages for us to order more drinks. Another age to get the bill & pay on leaving we asked the man behind the bar if he could call a taxi for us & was curtly told " I am too busy to order a taxi for you " obviously the money is more important than the quality of service to customers who pay his wages, went to supermarket next door and Lady there called a taxi for us straight away. So if your in Puerto del Carmen dont bother about Mario's pizzeria, there are plenty of much better restaurants on the sea front with professional staff who know how to treat customers. Just think if this had been an allergy issue it could of been a lot worse, more training needed there at Mario's it's not just about making money. We were there Sunday evening 11/02/24.very...

We booked the table and when we arrive the guy at the door was very abrupt asking have we booked I explained yes but there are only 2 of you yes the others are coming . Look disgusted . We were seated at the table the others arrived . The meal was booked for 8 and final got a waiter to take our drink order and 8.40 . Then gave us a menu but only 1 between 5 of us . Ordered our starters ordered my granddaughter fish fingers and chips my husband ordered ham and chicken croquettes. When received my granddaughter got chicken in breadcrumbs and chips and my husband fish croquettes after talking to them they initially denied it was wrong . Then another came and apologised. Then the meal came they brought out one meal to the table and served another table with there meals eventually 2 more mains came out and eventually the last meal came out. Again apologise for the service. Asked for a ice cream for my granddaughter 20 minutes later finally served and the waiters kept blaming each other . My husband ordered a sweet cheese cake and ice cream . How hard is it to serve one asked well again another 20 minutes later cheese cake and spray on cream. Again the waiter apologised. Admitting the service was very bad .

Such a shame as this use to be really nice ....

Great place, fabulous food for the price and awesome service and staff. This is lovely food for the price you pay. If you want a Michelin star restaurant, go to one and pay the price don’t expect it from a lovely family run restaurant. Meal for 4 with a bottle and a half of wine, kids drinks including 4 mains and 2 dessert was 77 euros. Great price for lovely food. Staff were amazing, I am Welsh I understand Welsh culture and traditions, when I go abroad I try my best to be respectful to the country I am in culture and traditions, I will be honest I don’t always get it right but I feel it is important to try. This restaurant included both holiday makers and locals alike, it appeared to me that the staff understood this and a simple smile and thank you or Gracies (in a Welsh accent obviously 😂) goes a long way. Thank you Mario’s, we will definitely come back again on our next visit. 👍 P.S the drinks waiter and dessert waiter (I believe you have this system as I was a waiter for 8 years in my long career) were fabulous with the kids, funny and engaging....

It's not easy to mess up something as primitive as prawns but - here we are. I have no idea whether Mario himself or any of his relatives have been to Italy but what I know for sure is that the food they serve has nothing in common with Italian cuisine. We were given garlic prawns which werenot cleaned. They served us PRAWNS. WITH. INTESTINES. STILL. INSIDE. We also had to pay for the bread that goes with them. It was the first time we had to pay for the bread for prawns. They tasted average. Timanfaya pizza - 2/10. I'm sure if you bought a frozen market pizza you would get better quality pepperoni and cheese. Everything flooded with oil and the only thing we were able to taste was garlic. Too much garlic. Another thing is the service. Those guys stink. I get it, they're working in a hot place... But no service workers should smell this bad. Moreover, if you haven't made a reservation, you'll wait for an hour for your food. The place is small and stinky. British people, wake up. This is not good food.

Visited for the first time last night. Always a good sign when it's fairly buzzing just 30 minutes after opening, especially when it's off the beaten track a bit and for us, a steep climb up the steps from the harbour-side. Mario himself came across to our table to have joke or two as he went through the specials, so the research of the online menu that day came to nothing as he recommended the pig cheeks, which we selected He was not wrong. A-Maz-Ing! The dish was very special, the Basque Country wine too was very good. The shared desert... Tiramasu , not a personal favourite..., was home-made and delicious. And the service and atmosphere really friendly and fun with a good mix of tourists and locals. To top it off, it was surprisingly, not expensive and the walk down-hill to our harbour-side was a breeze. Sorry, only remembered to take photograph of the Pigs Cheeks after we finished!

Always a first and last night meal (and a few in between) when we arrive from the UK. Food is honest and very tasty. The Pasta Specials board is always worth a look at before you order anything else. The guys and girls who work there are always cheerful and will recommend any food for any taste. They are also brilliant with any children that are about. Highly recommend. If you can't find something here that you like then there's no pleasing you!!haha.
