Avoid the “Thai” menu. Menus half Chinese, half Thai some sushi.
To be fair other tables ordering chinese looked nice.
We had Miso soup, definitely from a packet like you get from the supermarket!
Thai satay peanut chicken skewers. Sauce OK but too sweet to be satay and chicken was dry. Not fresh.
“Pad Thai” Which was NOT pad thai, was oily thick noddles with fried greens. (cabbage and pak choi). Nothing like you’d get in Thailand or Aldi packet for that matter!
Thai mango salad (I’ve had mango salad in Thailand this was nothing like it!!) No chillis, a small amount of chunks of mango, not sliced or shredded, pineapple???? And the smallest amount of avocado they could manage. There was prawn but like the flatten prawn you get on sushi, I didn’t dare to even taste that before sending back! Oh and the sauce was basically marie rose. Should be Chilli, lime, sugar, garlic, ginger, fish sauce.
Shame because it had been such a hot day and so I as craving some fresh light salad.
Despite the salad & Pad Thai being removed from the bill it still came to 33€ and my stomach still felt bloated, maybe from the chicken or the crackers??? 🤷🏻♀️
If you’re looking for a Thai place, this is not it. I’d stick to the Chinese. As I said it looked ok and others around seemed to enjoy it. Having said that plenty other chinese are...
Read moreWe ate here about two years ago and it was probably the best Chinese food we've ever eaten. It literally set the standard for comparison when trying similar dishes. However we ate here again after returning to Lanzarote this year and I was a little disappointed with the quality of food.
The Spring Rolls were tasteless and way too greasy. Had a strong deep-fried taste to it which overwhelmed any hope of tasting the spring roll. The mains were an improvement though so all was not so bad..
I had the Thai Red Curry which was very tasty and creamy but with a delightful spicy kick to it. The chicken was lovely and tender. Nice mix of veg which tasted fresh and not over cooked. Absolutely no complaints; It was excellent.
My girlfriend had the crispy honey chilli chicken which she really enjoyed but I was not a fan. She thought it was amazing, but every bite left me with the same deep-fried after taste that I got from the spring rolls. It was a 'No' from me but a definite 'Yes' from her.
I'd be willing to go back and see if they can redeem themselves as being my all-time favourite, but the most recent visit left me a little...
Read moreSunshine Asian Restaurant is a large bright restaurant with an extensive menu featuring Chinese/Thai/Japanese cuisine. One of the walls features many photographs of previous clientele which is nice touch. Also nice and bright are the toilets! The kitchen is open to view should that take your fancy.
We were very happy with the food and service such that we went back for a second night. As in many restaurants in Puerto del Carmen a free glass of honey rum is offered 😋
The service was lovely and very friendly.
There is music played at a level that is not too obtrusive but is contemporary pop music where I think traditional Oriental music would be appropriate for at least some of the time and would enhance the overall ambience. A nice touch is the linen table covers and...
