Whilst waiting for our meal a pot of rock salt was put on the table. My 'medium' cooked steak arrived which was completely raw in the middle and was covered in rock salt. Waiter came and maybe could tell I wasn't happy. Told him it was way undercooked for a medium to which he gave a bit of a look as if to say it's a medium.. Appreciate that medium can mean various stages of cooking to different people but to have a deep line of absolute raw meat in the middle is not a medium!!!. He took my plate away which came back slightly burnt on the edge I'd cut into which I expected. However it was still quite raw inside and to add insult they'd put even more salt on the steak making it completely uneatable for me. I didnt make a fuss simply because partner hates such things. Had I been on my own, I'd have left the food and refused to pay. So I was left with just a sorry looking bit of salad and chips to fill me up. Except all that had been covered in rock salt as well!! Get a grip and don't put rock salt on food before it's served - that should be the choice of the paying customer. Partner had the Angus beef which he said was fine but again that was less than medium cooked. Normally he will rave about having good food but he gave no comment about his steak As he refuses to see wasted food, no matter how bad, he ate my steak but left most of my chips and salad which spoke volumes to me. I'd been looking forward to my meal after not eating for 2 days due to being ill. Got back to the apartment and had a chocolate bar to try to get rid of the salt taste. It was also then that I remembered I'd made notes of every eating hole we'd dined at last year. What a surprise - I'd noted that my steak 'wasn't the best & had had far better elsewhere ' I'd tossed up tonight between steak or the 4 tapas offer. Glad hadn't gone with tapas either cos although it seemed a good offer, I saw other couple had that which were very small portions. if you want to spend your hard earned money on decent food, go elsewhere. There are far better places within a...
Read moreSoooo disappointed!! After reading the reviews we headed to Grill La Vaca Loca ready for a good steak. We took the waiters recommendation of a 400grm sirloin steak from NW Spain, a 'Special'. The entres were well presented, promising of a good meal to come. We shared a starter of another 'special ' lamb and parmesan croquettes, again presented very well and certainly tasted the parmesan but struggled to taste the lamb. The steaks duly arrived, with chips, a side salad but no onion rice as was ordered. My first reaction was disappointment at how much fat and gristle was on both of the steaks. What I was able to eat, after cutting all the inedible fat etc off was very nice and the mushroom sauce was beautiful. The waiter had promised such wonderful steaks and this is not something I would have bought at the supermarket or butchers. We had ordered a bottle of wine with our meal but that never arrived at the table. We left, disappointed especially as it was one of the first things we told the waiter was that we arrived there on Google...
Read moreIn my opinion, probably the best Grill - Restaurant in Teguise! The food, the service and the cost is just first class! I've eaten here now 5 times this holiday despite being on an 'all inclusive' stay. Vanessa, the face of La Vaca Loca is the perfect host, always welcoming despite how busy the restaurant is. I would suggest you making a reservation because it is so popular and fills up super quick! The pizzas are made fresh and come on a stone baked base, they're huge and absolutely delicious! The steaks literally melt on the plate, and also a great size for your Euro!
Seriously I'd happily challenge anyone to dine at La Vaca Loca and not enjoy their evening, especially the bill at the end!
Vanessa, thank you once again for your wonderful food and your fantastic...
