Now let me tell you. I have loved Indian food since first trying it, 45 years ago. I have tried every Indian takeaway local to me, at least once and every one of them are good at one dish 'if you're lucky' and the rest is poor. Now while on holiday here I craved an Indian meal and after checking local Facebook pages this stood out as the winner. We decided to try it and wow, we were not disappointed. We had the set meal for 2 costing €12.95 each. I had onion bhaji starter, chicken Madras, one poppadom and naan bread. My wife had chicken pakora starter, chicken tikka masala and bolied rice and one poppadom. We also added another 2 poppadoms and a portion of Bombay Potatoes OMG, everything was absolutely delicious. The poppadoms, fresh and light, onion bhaji, not greasy and tasty, chicken pakoras light and tasty. My Madras, perfect heat and full of flavour and plenty of lovely chicken. The bombay potatoes, beautiful, full of spice and taste and the naan bread the lightest and best naan bread so far. The wife loved her tikka masala, very tasty, boiled rice was fluffy and nice. I can honestly say this was the best Indian meal I have ever tasted. I had to tell the owner how good it was and said whatever the chef asks for, pay him and don't ever let him go. I recommend it to another couple on holiday at our hotel and they can back and said thank you so much for the recommendation. They also loved it and said it was one of the best they had tasted. Please go and try this restaurant if you're in the area, they have been there for many years with the same chef. They are nothing flashy but you don't need that, go for the food and value. They are simply phenomenal. Someone on Facebook said they had been on holiday for a week and managed to eat at the Lotus India four times ! That says it all. Go on, treat...
Read moreWe weren’t sure if Lotus Indian Restaurant, Costa Teguise did home deliveries, so we contacted them through Messenger. They replied very quickly and sent us a qr code to look at their menu (website: lotus-india.123restaurant.es) and a copy of their special set menu (minimum 2 for set menu for home delivery). We ordered from the special set menu (x2) and they phoned to ask how we liked our curries, we asked for hot. 2 x papadum (came with three tubs - mango sauce, mint sauce & spicy onions (amazing)) 1 x onion bhaji (4 pieces - excellent) 1 x chicken pakora (4 pieces - really good) 1 x chicken madras (Very good tasty Madras) 1 x chicken Punjabi (Never tried before, what a delight, so spicy & tasty) 1 x boiled rice (Nice) 1 x plain naan (Nice) We received our order in less than half an hour, the food was amazing, very spicy and flavoursome. The Lotus definitely has the largest bottle of Jack Daniels on the island. Well worth a visit for that alone.
Four of us had a decent, cheap house special of starter, curry + naan/rice. A lady on the next table had a lovely pair of tikkas that we admired from a distance.
The chicken Punjabi was tasty & very welcome after an afternoon on the ale. The curries are probably kosher (or not, if you prefer).
Would have given 5 stars if we’d seen Jen or Smoggy663. But alas, life isn’t perfect
Webby had a malteser for afters, followed by a real 18” (45cm) tester of the rusty sheriff’s badge a couple of days later.
Fantastic meal & service. Only suggestion would be a large stick to break the back of the...
