Avoid this place. Wonder why the place is empty in the evenings during the season. When we wanted to place an order, the owner asked if we wanted something to drink - the menu only includes water, Coca-Cola and alcohol, so we thanked him. We eat healthily, we don't drink sugar and alcohol. Within a second he took away our menu, he was very rude and aggressive - he said that without drinking there is no food. We were thrown out of the restaurant. Absurd situation, avoid this place because the owner is an unstable person. There are plenty great and friendly places in Costa Teguise. It's a waste of your time and money.
Edit/ In response to your comment: It is not the owner/waiter's role to evaluate what the customer orders. Will you kick your guests out of the restaurant the next day because they ordered, for example, shrimps that you don't feel like preparing today? Think about whether a bill of a few euros for drinks or 60-70 euros for food is more profitable for you... If you work with a client and want to make money from it, you have to learn respect for people, I have already eaten in many places around the world and believe me, you are truly a special person. Extremely rude and disrespectful of...
Read moreWalked in , asked for a table for two , managed to get one as it was early doors and quiet. My wife went for the fillet steak while I opted for the Canarian casserole 🥘 . The steak was cooked to perfection as my wife likes it , my casserole was mushroom and prawns cooked with garlic, I had also ordered creamy ham croquettes and garlic bread. The casserole came in a sizzling dish , piping hot and delicious , the ham croquettes were well presented, also delicious. I was able to eat most of it all but had to leave one piece of the garlic bread as 4 pieces was beyond me. The service was attentive seeing the proprietor was working alone bar a dish washer. We splashed out on a bottle of house blush which was very nice , we both came away full and retired to our apartment to crash out . I will certainly pay another visit , yes it's more expensive than a chips with everything venue but I don't mind paying for class , I thoroughly...
Read moreJust had the most beautiful paella at El Portón. We've been in Costa Teguise for for four days and it's quite hard to differentiate between restaurants when people rate them so highly, but in a resort where there is lot of disappointing generic fried food averaging 4.5 stars, El Porton stands out.
This is real, great quality, homemade food - please do not miss it! The croquetas de jamon were great but the paella stole the show. Great depth of flavour, laden with clams, mussels and a generous covering of prawns, there's also fish which melts in the mouth.
Service was warm, friendly yet discreet. The sangria is perfect and we were treated to a dessert wine.
As we left, I couldn't help think that the people in the shiny, generic mexican opposite were really missing something - if only they'd crossed the road.
We're looking forward to going back already. Thank you for a...
