Restaurante Bizcocho Plaza — Restaurant in Trujillo

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. We saw many guests inside and decided to take a risk. The warm and cozy atmosphere, along with the friendly staff, immediately drew us in. There were four of us, and since two of us don't speak Spanish, we asked for an English menu. The waitress recommended scanning a QR code, and everything became clear.

The restaurant offers a very interesting menu—short but well-curated. We chose four different dishes, plus an extra-large salad. We also ordered red wine, beer, and sparkling water. Every dish delighted us with its flavor. The salad surprised us with its size and variety.

The service was very polite and welcoming, and they also communicated in English, which made us feel comfortable. We decided to skip dessert because we were full, but they still served us a small complimentary treat—a kind of white chocolate mousse with vanilla, topped with sweet almonds. It was delicious.

I almost forgot to mention that at the beginning, we were served homemade pâté with small toasts and warm rolls. Given the restaurant’s touristy location, I wasn’t expecting such great food, but it truly exceeded my expectations. If you're in the area, I highly recommend...

Food was decent but the service was very questionable. I was asked twice if I knew where I was and told that I was not at the restaurant next door. I am not sure if they were assuming I wanted a cheaper option but that’s what it seemed like. Multiple servers came to all the tables around us multiple times yet my table of 5 was skipped and not served or checked on until we called the attention of our server. Not sure why this was the case but possibly due to have it people at our table of different skin tones. We will be visiting for the next few days and definitely will not go back there. We have been back to a couple of the other restaurants in the area since traveling here and the staff at those establishments have been more friendly...

The food was great; we had a bit of everything, the croquetas, the cheese, and a few complimentary items as well. For entrees, we had lamb, steak, fish, and octopus, everything was fantastic. The desserts were great; our favorite was the complimentary moose. Our only complains was that we wished the service was more attentive.
