Restaurante La Montañesa del Muelle — Restaurant in Valdés

We were here twice during our short stay at Luarca and we loved it!

The quality of the fresh food was just amazing. I am an octopus lover and never tried a soft and so tasty “pulpo”. The size of the portions were great and you can either sit inside or outside.

It was great to see all the precautions they are taking during these COVID 19 times. All of them wearing masks, you get alcohol in gel to clean your hands.

The service was outstanding, very young guys helping this family business owned by Eugenio and Irene. The prices quit fair and honestly not bad if you see the quality of the fresh fish (try the Salpicon, the mussels). We were not sure and they gave us recommendation of dishes ( I ate an amazing Bonito). The glass of red wine was so good!

If you can sit outside and admire the beautiful view and just stay there looking around people walking.

I will always recommend this restaurant LA MONTAÑESA. The owner told me and he has been in the restaurant business all his life , so they know what they do and how to do it.

Delicioso Very Taste Muito...

This is an excellent restaurant. We had to wait for a table (like everywhere here!) but for once the wait was very much worth it. Having been in Asturias for nearly 2 weeks, we have often been disappointed with the meals - very meaty and often the meat is quite chewy. Many restaurants seem to serve dishes that are quite fatty with little emphasis on vegetable content. Soggy potatoes are quite popular unfortunately. But this is a fish restaurant, and one of the highest order. Among other fine dishes, they serve a speciality of northern Spain - Percebes, which is prepared beautifully. The waiter delighted in explaining to us how it was harvested and how to eat it. Delicious! Even the chips were nicely prepared -thinly sliced potatoes fried perfectly. The fried calamari was also the best we have eaten here. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone keen to taste the best fish food from the area. It’s not cheap but it’s great service and you definitely get what...

Llegamos a este restaurante por casualidad, y el choque entre lo que esperábamos y lo que encontramos fue brutal La comida fue auténticamente deliciosa, la sopa de pescado me hizo recordar a la que hacía mi madre...Y mis acompañantes al igual que yo, estaban encantados, hasta el punto de que sopera y platos, quedaron brillantes. La merluza, exquisita (Tal vez la mejor que haya probado), y algo tan sencillo como las patatas fritas, que en tantos restaurantes maltratan, gloriosas. El Arroz con Leche, no era el que yo esperaba, pero estaba tan rico que repetí. En cuanto al precio, muy ajustado, más aún después de una comida tan soberbia. Seguimos nuestro viaje hacia Mondoñedo, donde hicimos noche, camino de Lugo...Pero al acercarse la hora de comer, mis dos amigos y yo, estuvimos de acuerdo en retroceder para comer de nuevo en La Montañesa del Muelle. Dicho y hecho. Nos presentamos de nuevo en el restaurante, y después de mi gratísima experiencia del día anterior, pregunté al cocinero acerca de la Fabada, y como me respondió que era muy buena, pedí de primero Fabada (también pedí de primero sopa de pescado). Mis dos primeros, gloriosos. La Fabada, simplemente la mejor que he comido en mi vida (y siempre que vengo a Asturias, como Fabada en todos los restaurantes). La Fabada, continúo con el tema, sabrosísima, y el punto de cocción de las alubias, perfecto. De segundo tomamos unos bocartes muy ricos, acompañados de unas patatas fritas perfectas (tal vez parezca ridícula mi insistencia en las patatas fritas, pero para una vez que como un producto tan aparentemente sencillo, bien hecho, algo que en mi opinión es una rareza, quiero resaltarlo). El Arroz con Leche de este segundo día, muy rico, volví a repetir. Cuando regrese a Asturias (no digo a Luarca), volveré a este restaurante aunque me cueste hacer unas decenas de kilómetros de más.
