I read a lot of good reviews, so I might have caught them on a bad day or something. I understand what their going for, an upscale tapas restaurant, but they lacked fundamentals. We ordered a cod fritter, a jamon croquetta, albondigas, and a prawn dish. Both fried items were technically great. Crispy coating, no blowouts, and not greasy. However, the jamon croquetta had zero jamon flavour. And the cod fritter mainly tasted of potato and garlic. The albondigas were really delicious, albeit a bit salty. The plate was served in a bowl with a slightly thickened sauce but no serving spoon. This dish is meant to be shared, but we had to scrape the sauce with our forks. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of an upscale experience. As far as the prawns go, we never received them. We waited for about 25 minutes and asked for the bill. We told our server about the missing item, which he previously confirmed when we placed the order, and we didn't receive an apology or excuse, just an OK. While sitting at our table, I had a pretty good angle where I could see the kitchen. They weren't busy, and I saw a member of the brigade wearing gloves while eating something and then turning around and handling food. I was really confused by this entire evening. We had second and third thoughts before we decided to sit there, and we were greeted by a member of staff that explained to us that "we're doing something different." There's a clear lack of direction, and the phrase "fashion before passion" is the best description I can give. I wasn't pleased one bit, and I wouldn't bother visiting for quite a...
Read moreWell....you know when you go to a restaurant and everything is off... We had high hopes given the 4.8 average google review and were looking forward to a nice evening. But things then proceeded with an indifferent welcome, a grumpy waitress, ok the drinks were nice, then a long wait for food (we ordered 5 tapas dishes and the last one came 45 minutes after ordering...and was the second dish that was not as described on the menu). Asked for some bread to go with the hummus, then had to ask again, and finally the bread appeared after 15 minutes. In the meantime the waitress had disappeared for 15 minutes and someone else was rearranging tables loudly around us (this was at 8.30pm!). We complained towards the end as we were getting fed up with everything, which led to much arguing between the waitress and two other staff around whose fault it was (and probably what idiots they thought we were as guests). Our bill was reduced by 10 euros after we complained, but still we left wishing that we had not spent 75 euros for two in a restaurant where clearly no-one was competent at what they were doing (or seemed to have any interest or enjoyment...
Read moreI went there for a nice dinner, didn’t want to go to deep into searching for the most authentic Valencian place but I saw this one and I gave it a try to its food.
I got there without reservation and the hostess was able to get me a table, I ordered my usual moscow mule which was great and started with a Gilda de Dalí and with a Pan de masa madre con tomate y alioli, where mixing these 3 made a perfect combination of flavours; about the Gilda, no words to describe this delicatessen, I am just going to say Try It
Besides these 2 starters, I got also Alcachofas con Jamon (recommended by Johna my server, great guy though, also from my country which gave me the full trust on his advise), I can only say trust him on this, the combination in textures and flavour between the iberico and the alcachofas is out of this world, at least for me. Then the boquerones al limon, perfectly cooked and crispy as I expected, the last but not the least croquetas de Jamon iberico, they are served exactly as it says in the menu description says creamy inside and crunchy on the outside.
For me this was a great experience, among my favourites in Valencia,...
