Another horribly lit, completely ambiance lacking Valencian restaurant which seem to be in abundance here in, surprise..! Valencia.. Honestly, what is wrong with Spanish and white flourescent lighting? Unfo, this place is fanous for its rice dishes and not even one out of so many selections can be served for one person which shows complete lack of operational creativity. Rest of the menu was dull, especially if you are one, and guess what..? I was, indeed. Would go back if I ever find some company, wearing my shades; to eat there Valencian Paella, which according to other reviews here is best in town.
IN CONTINUATION TO OWNER’S RESPONSE
Dear Sir, it really is not my habit to respond to owners’ as it is within their right to express appreciation as we do; or try to protect their establishments. However, I will do an exemption this time for two reasons: A- you have a sense of humor, and i like that. We can talk. B- as nicely and diplomatically as I can put out of respect to you; unfortunately your recollection does directly conflict with mine.
First of, your restaurant is lit white as white as white comes. It is not even a subjective matter. You can have it measured, or simply check your light bulbs. Saying that it is “yellow light” is an offense to yellow. You are not the brightest, it is true; but most others are not even half classy as you are or can be.
More importantly; the kind gentleman who seated me, possibly you, clearly said “we do not serve RICE for one person.” If you were serving ONE type of rice even, no one mentioned that. In your menu, it clearly states all rices are served for two people. As such, I did not even read rest of the rice menu, and this clearly contradicts with your claim and position you are trying to put me in by discrediting my review.
Excluding you, I have been helped by two of your service staff both capable and very customer-friendly (and one was super beautiful I should say). Neither you, nor any of them mentioned a take-away opportunity to the contrary of your claim at the time of order taking. This came up in a funny way at the time that I was paying the check and if the lady is as ethical as she is beautiful, she will confirm this but I am not sure if this will lead you to apologize for all the contradictions you have chosen to state boldly. (I am still being kind, see?)
A good comes out of this discussion: For anyone cares to read except you and me, they now know their options with their sweet rices..
Another good may also come out:
I dare say in my humble opinion that you lack operational creativity. Not having “space” is a poor excuse. Out of respect to your expertise and experience I will not tell you how, and that you can actually make more money as well. Suffice it to say:
If there is a will, then there is a way.
I guess after this correspondence, I will have to find another place for that Valencian paella.
Cheers
Ps: Pls take care of my hostage scarf. I used to...
Read moreNot the best place I ate… Something interesting happened here, maybe it’s their policy, but I just don’t get it. We were five girls, and we wanted to share two different paellas: two of us one kind, and the other three another kind. The waiter told us he couldn’t serve us two different paellas at the same table, we had to all order the same one. Why?! If we had split into two separate tables, two and three, they would’ve been fine with it, but since we were all at one table, it wasn’t allowed. I find that strange, especially since we just wanted one seafood paella and one vegetarian.
Anyway, we said fine, and just three of us ordered the seafood one because someone had recommended this place as having the best paella in town… but honestly, no, not really. We got the seafood paella with squid ink, figured we’d try something different. I know squid ink can be salty, but this was very salty… there were very few seafood pieces and they were kind of rubbery. After all the fuss over what we could or couldn’t order, I was at least expecting it to be good. I’d give it a 7/10… I’ve had much better in other places in Valencia. But the sangria was actually really good.
I’m giving this place 4 stars only because of the patatas bravas, which were absolutely delicious, and the sangria, which was genuinely great. If I had to rate it based only on the paella, it would have...
Read moreA true 5 star experience. We were fortunate to discover Flor de Valencia by walking by and stopped in, made a reservation for dinner. The food is excellent. We had the calamari with black ink as a starter. Deleicious. Tender. Perfect in every way. That was followed by the Valencian Paella. Also delicious. Ample meat. The rice was cooked to perfetion - just enough crispy at the bottom to make scraping every last bit worthy of doing so. I had several different wines by the glass, which was fun and provided diversity, at a reasonable price. The staff was very professional and hustled to serve the patrons. We interacted often, and as it was obvious that we delighted in the food, they were very accomodating and interactive. The olive oil served is "1 Olivo por La Paz" which has got to be the best olive oil I have ever delighted in (and I am a great fan of olive oil). The desert we had was well-made and wile delicious, I think that ending of sweet and cream overwhelmed the possible linger of the exquisite paella. Hmmm... a tough decision for next time - which I...
