Taberna El Clavo — Restaurant in Valencia

As a server I have but one religion, gastronomy and I truly love to see like minded passionate souls excell in our world.

Going to el cavo is like walking a pilgrimage for tantalus. You hear about it, you find it, you bath in the glorious atmosphere and u partake in all the goodness this mecca of valencian cuisine has to offer.

Never have I had better pulpo, never have I been amazed by such perfect simplicity as the poor man's potatoes and never have I been more amazed at a maitre doing what she does best.

If I could I'd eat here every week, but unfortunately I'm left to experiment at home to recreate this excellent potatoes dish.

A great find! This place is a truly authentic Spanish tapas taberna. The atmosphere and interior is old-style and authentic, which makes it very charming.

The food is not the cheapest, but the quality is excellent. I tried the grilled sardines and garlic prawns in a casserole. Both were tasty. The menu also offers a good selection of main dishes, but the real Spanish evening experience is all about tapas, drinks, and socializing and this place captures that perfectly.

It’s full of locals, has a lovely atmosphere, and is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Valencia, whether you’re heading to the beach or coming back from it. Highly recommended for a relaxed evening...

I was walking around Valencia during Covid, not much hope of finding anything open. Walked down an inconspicuous street and this joint was open. Pleasantly surprised with the food and service was friendly but not pushy. I had a plate of padron peppers, with the luck of more than a few spicy ones, smoked tuna on bread which was divine (and cheap at 3euro per serving) washed down with a glass of red wine. Interiors were comprised of an old style bar with bottles shelved up to ceiling, old wooden piano...rustic style. Great big windows that allow for people watching from the comfort of inside. Tables outside also available, ample amount. Would visit again.
