Tanamadana - Restaurante en Ruzafa — Restaurant in Valencia

We have been here three times and it’s hit or miss. Last night we went with two friends and the service was poor. There was no one else there but we had to flag the waiter down to place an order. Although The food was quite good. The bravas were very good and I had their Caesar salad which was delicious. The issue is that everything we ordered had battered and fried items. Even the chicken in the salad had a breading and was fried. I would have preferred it grilled or sautéed for it to be less rich. We ordered the fish tapa and it was deep fried chunks of fish. The bravas were also fried. All delicious but we all preferred less fried food. The waiter came after our meal and asked one person if he wanted coffee, no one else, and was not friendly and didn’t once smile. Customer service goes a long way. Out of the three times we have eaten here twice was a bit off so we will likely chose another place next time.

Revised, review. We have been back a few times since my review above and there must have been a staff change in the kitchen. The food has been excellent and the wait staff very professional. Let’s hope they keep this current crew, it’s well...

Yesterday we have had tapas at this restaurant. There’s tapas and there’s tapas at Tanamadana’s.

Somewhat away from the busy crowds at the center of Valencia, Tanamadana’s is located at the corner of a street in the Russafa neighborhood. The restaurant looks cosy and modern on the inside and has a nice terrace.

Then the food. It was amazing, way above average. They have a relatively small menu, which in general is a good thing. Everything comes very fresh. The Patatas bravas were crunchy on the outside and really smooth on the inside. The salads with tuna and anchovy look delicious and taste as expected once you’ve seen it, the burrata salad is really soft and creamy, the typical Spanish croquettes are great too. Been here a couple times but the last time has changed quite a bit from how it was before. Overall the place has good food and a big selection of drinks etc. not sure what happened in the last months but the service has gone down quite a lot. The staff are not very tentative and seem too busy to serve you. When we tried to order some food, she took a long time to take our order and then the food took a long time to arrive. When asked for the bill they charged us extra for sole drinks which we didn’t have and when asked to remove it, they brought us a new bill but then added 2 additional drinks of another to try “hide” the cost. Be careful and check the bill if you come here. Before I would have recommended to come here but based on recent experience, I cannot. It’s a shame because...
