Unfortunately, it was quite a disappointing experience. The fried squid was dry and served without any sauce, just a slice of lemon, which didn’t help much. The garlic prawns and steamed mussels both lacked seasoning and flavor, making them quite bland. The waitress offered bread, which she brought quickly, but it came hot with nothing to go with it—no butter or sauce to dip it in. By the time the garlic prawns came out, the bread had already gone cold, so we couldn’t even use it to enjoy the sauce. The dishes came out very slowly, one by one. When we asked, we were told that in the Canary Islands it’s traditional to serve food this way “so you can taste each dish,” but honestly, none of them had much taste to begin with. Service was also slow and unorganized. I understand there was only one waitress, but leaving customers waiting for so long doesn’t leave a good impression. It seems the restaurant puts most of its focus and effort into their paella dishes, which might explain the poor quality of the other menu items. Perhaps they should just specialize in paella and not try to cover so many other options.
Has potential but could do much better.
On top of that, it was very pricey — over 40 euros for just three dishes, which was definitely not worth it given the quality...
Read moreAfter reading the many glowing reviews here, we were really looking forward to our visit. We were not disappointed. As a precaution, I booked a table knowing that the restaurant is fairly small. Tables were available but I'd still advise booking. Although the menu is smallish and the mains consist almost exclusively of paella (the restaurant's name is a bit of a giveaway lol), there are specials boards also. Starters were mussels and calamari (two dishes) followed by the scallop and octopus paella. All were delicious. The service was friendly and super efficient and as residents, we will be returning again very soon. Kind...
