Stumbled across this place when Casale Franco wasn’t open on a Monday, which we had been recommended to try.
Bad start in that we were ignored for over five minutes at the door and I was about to leave when we were finally acknowledged. We were then seated and drinks weren’t too slow to come but they could’ve been faster. We almost felt like a bit of a hindrance to the man who took our order to be honest.
It’s only a small spot, and there were two people waiting on which should have been fine, if not then maybe they should employ another server? Hopefully this is not the case on a busier night. People were still arriving and being seated as we were leaving after 2230 on a Monday…
Anyway, all was forgiven when the food came which was very good. We had three pizzas between four of us as my daughter was feeling past it by the time we got sat down. They were excellent, really nice crispy stone baked dough with delicious toppings. The Calabrese with Salami and a sprinkling of blue Gorgonzola was really good, 5/5.
Hoping to visit again and update if service is better.
UPDATE:
Visited again 04.08.23 and had a much better experience. Same staff, just generally a less hectic environment and better service.
The calzone was good and toppings were swapped out without any hesitation and at no extra cost which is always a nice touch 👌
We stayed for dessert too. The crepes were a little under cooked for my liking but the tiramisu was a solid 7/10 even if a little cream heavy. Glad we have it...
Read moreA really lovely find! If you are after an Italian, then this is the place. The food was beautifully presentedand tasted amazing. The Lanzarote pizza (while not authentically Italian) was something different. The pizza dough was delicious and the tomato sauce for the base was perfectly balanced. The pasta (number 21 on the menu) has a creamy in house made red pesto sauce with crushed pistachios that added the perfect crunchy texture! The service was 10/10. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We were never looking around for service. It's a smaller restaurant but that makes the atmosphere really nice, on a busier road but wasn't it...
