Chiringuito Bar Tropical — Restaurant in Yaiza

I don’t like to give hospitality places poor reviews but this felt well deserved. We arrived as a party of 5. Two tables had bookings at 1.5-2hours ahead of when we were arriving and so we were offered either.

2 hours would be fine for a few tapas dishes, couple of beers etc.

The moment we sat down and started ordering drinks I knew this was a bad choice. The waitress seemed disappointed we might want to only order drinks now and food in another 15 mins when the rest of our party arrived.

Once all drinks were ordered and second part of our party arrived we ordered a few tapas bits including prawns, patatas bravado, and croquettes.

The prawns… they smelt awful. Tasted awful. I hope I’m not ill tonight.

The bread came in a paper bag thrown on the table.

Patatas bravas was chunky chips with a spicy mayo. Not really aioli and tomatoes.

All pretty poor.

Then we were hurried with the bill 30 minutes before the next table were booked (just say it’s 14:30 if that’s when you wanted it back). And subsequently told 2-3 times to hurry up (in other words) whilst we went to the toilet and finished during the 30 minutes we were meant to still have on the table.

The one saving grace was a quite polite and enthusiastic chap who served us beer, but he was completely let down by the proprietor and other waitresses.

Don’t bother coming if you want even ok food, and...

What a shame that one grumpy, churlish, rude, unhelpful waitress can give a bar a poor review. All other servers seemed polite & pleasant…except for our waitress. Zero sign of a smile, when I asked where the toilets were, she rolled her eyes & frowned even more(if that was possible!). The piece de resistance was, our bill came to just over €5 for a beer & coke, so we gave a €10 note. Waited for change….& waited….& waited…until we saw her ‘serving’ others!! Ironically, I would’ve left a tip but I don’t appreciate it being assumed! Rather than have a stand up confrontation, I decided to write it off to experience. I’ll obviously never go there again & have also warned everybody I know not to go there. Maybe when this grumpy girl has been sacked, I’ll consider it! If I could give zero...

I kept getting updates from Google I was close to Chiringuito Bar, so yesterday i went along to see it. Having read the other comments, what a disappointment!

I sat down in the shade and, although there were three people serving, not one of them greeted me, made eye contact or even looked at me. The place only had around twelve customers at the time, so it wasn't because it was busy.

All the staff had grim, grumpy expressions and I had plenty of time to register this as I sat there more than ten minutes watching before realising I wasn't going to be served. I left still thirsty.
