Well we set off for a stroll from the Natura Palace towards the lighthouse and despite the quite heavy rain we got there , had a quick look around then thought if we can find a signpost or path we would go up the Red Mountain but could find neither so we went for it across some pretty rough terrain and at times quite steep we got to the top and headed to the right to overlook our hotel & Playa Blanca. There is a concrete marker at the highest point , we then continued around the rim and sure enough there is a track to follow down. Anyhow we did it the hard way up & easy down 😁 The caldera is huge and had it not been raining intermittently we would have gone into it. The views are great and it was well worth the effort. It only takes about 40 minutes to get up to the crater from near the sea front on the Playa Blanca side and then 20-30 minutes to walk around it. You will stop to look at the amazing views which is the reason why you should go up it.
