Don Giovanni — Restaurant in Yaiza

Come here for the nice and chilled atmosphere, a good wine list, and lunch in the sunshine away from the busy beaches and beach bars. Expect to pay up: a glass of wine starts at 8 euros. With this vibe and these prices, and the restaurant being part of a 5-star hotel, I was expecting more from the staff and the food.

The lasagna was just OK: more cheese than tomato. The cannolo was beautifully presented, but the pastry dough was not fresh and had lost all its crunchiness. I found that really disappointing: surely that is the #1 thing to get right when you put cannolo on your menu? If not for that it would have been a really nice dessert. I also asked what came with the panna cotta as it usually comes with some sauce or fruit. Instead of answering my question, the waiter explained that panna cotta is a Spanish dessert (!) a bit like flan (!!). When I tried to ask again, he said "wait!", walked off, and came back with an actual panna cotta. I found this a really strange experience.

If you're looking for actually good Italian food at decent prices with staff who know their stuff, go to the Italian Job which is only a couple of minutes'...

I had an absolutely terrible experience at the Don Giovanni. My wife and I along with our daughter, walked into the restaurant around 20:45 looking for a table. All of the staff completely ignored our presence for the bones of ten minutes. When we were finally acknowledged, what seemed to be the manager, told us, in a frankly quite dismissive tone, that there was no tables available and that they were busy at that time. However, upon entering the restaurant it was apparent to all, the lull in customers, the sprinkling of diners who were visibly finished dining along with oceans of tables unoccupied by diners. The unwelcoming atmosphere left us with no choice but to part, unfed. This awful experience has left me not only upset but also shocked, for dining that is advertised as "five star" was certainly a one...

The first two meals came at a alright time But we expected the food in about a maximum of 2 minutes but then it took 15 minutes for the other 3 meals but I was only one to like my meal It was a good band singing but he went off around 9pm and went quiet and when it was someone’s birthday they spoiled it by checking if the music was on and I realised they had a music player the why don’t you even use it The service was poor as there was only about 1 waiter and credits to him as he was trying his hardest Food 6/10 Atmosphere 1/10 Service 1/10 The food desert which was the most expensive one was like food from the buffet...
