Recently, I had the opportunity to visit The British Pub, located at One Galle Face Mall. I was excited to indulge in some delicious food and experience the cozy ambiance of a traditional British pub. While the food we managed to order lived up to my expectations, I was disappointed by the lackluster service provided by the staff. This write-up aims to provide an honest account of my visit, highlighting both the positive aspects and the unfortunate service experience.

The Ambiance and Food: Upon entering The British Pub, I was immediately struck by its charming and authentic British décor. The warm lighting, wooden furnishings, and classic pub memorabilia created an inviting atmosphere. The menu featured a variety of British-inspired dishes, and after browsing through the options, I decided to start with some garlic bread and fries. Both dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and served. The quality of the food contributed to the initial positive impression of the establishment.

Service Woes: Regrettably, my experience took a downturn due to the disappointing service provided by the staff. When I wanted to order something else from the menu, I tried to grab the attention of a server, but they seemed preoccupied and disinterested. After several unsuccessful attempts, I eventually took matters into my own hands and walked up to the bar to request the dinner menu. To my surprise, despite my efforts, I waited for nearly half an hour without any menu or acknowledgment from the staff.

The Unfortunate Conclusion: Frustrated and hungry, I reluctantly made the decision to abandon my plans for dinner at The British Pub. A Must-Visit Spot with Outstanding Service!

I recently visited the British Pub during my trip to Sri Lanka, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The standout of the evening was undoubtedly Mr. Lakshan, who made our visit truly memorable.

Mr. Lakshan is the best at what he does. His exceptional customer care skills set the tone for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, he ensured we felt right at home, going above and beyond to make our experience special.

He was incredibly accommodating, even playing music based on our requests, which added a personal touch to the evening. It’s rare to find such dedicated and attentive service these days, and Mr. Lakshan sets a gold standard for it.

As someone visiting from Ireland, I felt genuinely welcomed to Sri Lanka, and his hospitality has left me eager to return. If you’re planning to visit the British Pub, do yourself a favor and ask for Mr. Lakshan—he will make your visit unforgettable.

Update-This has become an all time favourite with BP being the go to pub whether it’s a quick beer overlooking a nice sunset or a good session of predrinks before a night out. Regular offers are available specially for bottles and their food menu is mouth watering. The staff is consistent with their excellent customer service and the manager does a great job too. Would recommend the place to anyone and don’t forget to give the fish and chips a try.

From good cocktails, beer, delicious burgers and even shisha. Ideal for groups and a reservation is recommended even on a weekday as it can get pretty busy.
