CAFE COLOMBO — Restaurant in Colombo

We had a disappointing experience at Cafe Colombo last week. Despite making a reservation for 7 people, we were only provided with 5 spots, and our group was split. To make matters worse, they served other customers who arrived after us. We ordered chicken sandwiches, but my 5-year-old didn't receive hers. When I inquired, the owner claimed they didn't have chicken sandwiches, without apologizing. She suggested ordering egg kothu instead, stating it wasn't spicy. I had ordered veg puttu kothu, but what I got was puttu and curry instead of kothu. My daughter's food was also too spicy, despite the owner's claim that egg kothu wasn't spicy. She took one mouth then spit out everything. When we brought these issues to the owner's attention, she didn't listen or gave us an opportunity to explain. She was speaking over us and didn’t care about her customers. She told me you cannot tell me to be quiet to provide us an opportunity to explain. The behaviour was so unprofessional and despite the issues, we were still charged for all the food except the egg puttu kothu. We asked for other items on the menu and she said they don’t have those items. Due to the poor service and lack of accountability by the lady, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Me and a couple of friends decided to have a meal here, to celebrate our friend's birthday. We ordered a variety of dishes, and for the exorbitant price that is charged we expected superior quality, while every other dish was satisfactory, the beef stroganoff was horrendous. To start with, the menu states that is served with pasta, however what was received was a miniature bowl of steamed rice, we complained and requested for our pasta and received it. However this was far from the worst of our troubles, the beef was poorly prepared, with the beef matching the consistency of rubber, for the price of Rs. 1900 we hoped to receive a far better product than this, when confronting the staff about it, the chef blamed the meat itself, stating it's poor quality to be the blame, whatever the case, albeit the meat itself or the cooking, the resulting dish is outrageous, especially considering the price and the fact that a far superior dish can be...

So we went here yesterday for the 1st time for a ladies night offer as we wanted to have a good time.. we made a reservation in advance and to our surprise when we arrived, our table wasn't ready or reserved.. didn't really give a good impression to start with. They advertised the ladies night as free cocktails fr the ladies from 8pm to 10pm - when we ordered our drinks all we tasted was pure juice and a whole load of ice.. I have been to so many ladies nights and this was by far the worst! If you are doing it, do it right, not for the sake of it.. we received free mocktails, not cocktails.
