Being Galle Face Hotel we expected better service, enticing food and drinks but we were utterly disappointed. First and foremost the chairs you have sit on are extremely uncomfortable worn out due to sea spray and looked very run down. It’s surprising to see several stains on the walls of the hotel. The staff were very inconsiderate and would take our plates and drinks even before we had finished eating. The cocktails were extremely bland and the waiters struggle to communicate in English to explain the menu. We booked a specific table for our group, only to find out it had been given to another smaller group and we were left with a bad view.
The music was extremely loud and the DJ was playing and stopping songs at random moments and completely mixed up the genres of music. We could hardly hear each other at the table and barely got to communicate properly with our group. We had to huddle into two groups to carry on a conversation.
When compared to many other venues we found the price a group had to pay to be roughly 4X-5X the amount you would have to pay. The portion size was terrible and all in all an extremely unpleasant and unprofessional experience. It’s a shame that a place as iconic as Galle Face hotel would drop down to this level. I don’t recommend this place for anyone for a group gathering and dinner, there’s far better places in Colombo for a...
Read moreThe restaurant has a beautiful location overlooking the ocean, but it needs improvement in several areas:
Table Organization: Tables should be clearly numbered to help servers identify the correct table and deliver the right orders. There was an issue with incorrect order distribution during our visit.
Staff Training: The servers seemed tense and often did not listen carefully to customers or provide adequate assistance. For example, we had to request napkins multiple times, but they were never brought to the table.
Slow Service: The food took an extremely long time to arrive, even though we only ordered a simple Caesar salad. Additionally, cutlery, such as forks and spoons, was brought to the table long after the food was served. Cleaning the table also took an unnecessarily long time, leaving us seated at a dirty table for a while.
Teamwork and Customer Service: The staff, including the manager, need better training on teamwork and customer service. The manager failed to apologize or address the complaints when informed about these issues, which added to the disappointment.
In conclusion, while the location is stunning, the restaurant staff, including management, need structured training to improve the overall...
Read moreUtter waste of money on food at Galleface Hotel Firebeach!
We had to pay Rs. 15,000 for this Galleface hotel Firebeach bed for 3 people and it was a complete waste of money 😡😡
Now about food and bev.
Our first order was 3 drinks - a coconut and passion fruit mix (Breeze), cucumber and mint juice (Mr. Slim) and a banana shake (Banana Fizz). We couldn’t even finish all three cause they tasted terrible! Especially the mint juice - tasted like some badly made kolakenda.
Next order was tuna flat bread(spicy tuna), not a single piece of tuna on it but some cheap ricotta cheese and pol sambol. By then we had completely lost our appetite, but we had to order up to Rs. 15,000 or else we’ll be walking back home with nothing.
Third order was a bbq cauliflower and cheese dish which had a foul, moldy taste - as if it was baked a week ago.
Last dish didn’t disappoint us either 🙄 - grilled sardines toast they sell for Rs. 800 - very Instagrammy I took a picture (mind you, the picture was taken as it was served - and no, we didn’t even touch it)
Only satisfaction we had was the view, and that was it. Galleface Hotel - your new Firebeach joint is fantastic, but what you serve for money’s worth puts...
