Timeless Charm, Excellent Food, and First-Class Facilities
The Colombo Swimming Club is one of Colombo’s most iconic and historic venues. Whether you’re there for a meal, a swim, or just to relax by the water, the club offers a truly refined experience in the heart of the city.
The facilities are exceptional — the pool is large, well-maintained, and perfect for both casual swimmers and those doing serious laps. The changing rooms and showers are clean and comfortable, and the entire club has a very relaxed, colonial-era charm that’s rare to find these days. There’s a quiet, upscale ambiance that makes it feel like a retreat from the busy city outside.
As for the food, it was a standout. The menu offers a great mix of Sri Lankan and Western dishes, all freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The staff were courteous and attentive, and the open-air dining area overlooking the ocean made the meal even more memorable.
Whether you’re a member or visiting as a guest, the Colombo Swimming Club delivers on both quality and atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind with great food and excellent amenities in a...
Read moreI visited here for some evening drinks and some tapas style eats with a friend who is a member
The place was very nice, with good furniture and very attentive staff. They have a restaurant inside which looks quite nice, but we didn't visit it. The place is very large with lots of seating both inside and out. There is outside seating that is covered so if it rains you can still be outside and not get wet.
I think this is a members only place, which meant I couldn't pay for any of the drinks because it is billed to the members account at the end of the month. This was a bit annoying as I wanted to test my friend who took me there.
The drinks selection covered most things you would ask for normally, but the selection of each kind (vodkas, whiskeys etc.) wasn't extensive - although you would probably find a brand you liked.
Overall though I thought it was quite a good place to go for some drinks and snacks to relax and a fun time with people you want to hang out with.
The staff mostly spoke English - which was good for me as I don't speak Sinhalese -...
Read moreIt is truly pathetic to see how easily this so-called posh club washes its hands off by saying it’s the responsibility of parents and guests to look after the kids — and that cameras are not available. If the club does not want to take responsibility for children using the pool, then it should not allow kids’ pool parties to be hosted at the venue in the first place.
When you accept money to host a children’s pool party, you automatically take on the responsibility to ensure adequate safety and supervision. At the very least, there should have been two to three pool attendants on duty, especially when other guests are also using the pool.
Because of the club’s careless negligence, we lost young Arlan Panagoda — a bright boy with many dreams for his future. His loss is an unbearable tragedy for his parents, family, and friends.
Your so-called statement about safety measures and protocols is nothing but empty words and lies. Who are you...
