Sri Suryas Hotel — Restaurant in Colombo

I had the worst experience in my life trying to treat a friend who wanted to try some breakfast in Colombo and first time embarrassed alot for suggesting a place. To start off the worst experience we took a table at a corner which was for a family so the manager who pretended to double check the order ended up asking us to move for a two person table which was understandable then the food came so cold, never in my life had a cold ghee roast which was supposed to be hot and crisp. Then a waiting while we were eating tried to remove the plate and a dish then the manager apologized. Then while we were having the food another waiter brings the bill indicating it's time to leave I paid the bill and was waiting get my coffee, but within another 5 min the entire staffs was surrounding the table and giving an impression that we had been waiting for a long time inside the restaurant and making us so uncomfortable hence my friend and I decided to walk out and talk while standing outside. The worst part of the experience is security guard asked to take the vehicle so he can keep the parking space available for another car without giving us few minutes to talk while standing close to the vehicle. The whole team is so bloody money hungry money motivated to keep Turing around the tables and pushing more customers in even on a very low footfall day like Sunday morning. If there was someone waiting for the table I would understand staffs being hurry but the restaurant was mostly empty. I would ask anyone who would like to have an proper experience of zero food quality, terrible staffs and horrible security guard to visit this place it's a full package for a eventfull sunday.

Note to management- hospitality is an art if you are only here to make money please put up takeaway only, sorry even that won't suite you because your food quality has become so worst now. Please try to educate your team to respect any customers that walk in and try to teach your kitchen on how to make proper south...

Very impressed with their delicious food. Especially my favourite cashewnut Masala Dosai, ulundu wade and what not. There's so much to choose from, and we just want to try lots of stuff from the menu.

Parathas, pooris, naans just yum like other varieties of dosais (tried a few).

Service is very good. Prices are very good. No complaints regarding the quality, taste & quantity of their portions.

What we ordered never left us dissatisfied. Have been there more than twice and was impressed.

Although the place seems classy the food is not. The food is tasty but are given in very small portions. The food is not provided to the money we are paying. And top of this a service charge is added, which is ridiculous because there was no proper service to being with. Today I spent 610 just for 4 poori for 2 people it was not all enough because the poori was very small. Not like the regular one, it was even smaller. Didn't even drink the water because the glasses had a very bad smell. Couldn't even take the glass near the mouth because the smell was extremely pungent. It's not a very nice place as it seems to be outside. Waste of money and therefore unnecessary...
