Dine 'n' Sip — Restaurant in Weligama

I don't like to give negative reviews to small family run places, so I will leave this review as construction criticism. I ordered the vegan tacos and they were truly unbelievably oily. To the point where I held it in my fist and squeezed tightly and oil ran, not dripped, out. I did this multiple times to try drain as much oil as possible. Oil was running down my arms and I had about 4 napkins that were yellow and completely soaked in oil by the end and a pool of oil on my plate. I don't mind if something is deep fried but this was far beyond that. Maybe I just got unlucky this day as there is other good reviews for the vegan tacos here. The flavour itself was good, the service was good and the place is cozy, but the amount of oil the dish is cooked in/served in should be changed...

We had the tuna, chicken, and mushroom tacos- they were amazing!!! They make the tortilla fresh in house. They are epic- form enough to hold the filling without going soggy, and large enough that you feel like you have eaten a decent sized meal. The Sri Lankan owner is lovely and keen for a chat. While this place has only been open for a short while and doesn’t look like much from the outside, I can honestly say it’s worth visiting!! I’m a professional chef who spends a lot of time in Mexico and Miami eating tacos, and these absolutely fit the bill! They have a great Sri Lankan spin on a Mexican favourite and they succeed!! I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the third taco plate because we ate them...

Best food we’ve had in ages, traveling or back home. And it’s extremely affordable, cozy atmosphere, small and family run restaurant. Think of it like this: Do you want to try Sri Lankan dishes made with a mothers’ love put into the food? This is the place. V, the son and his father will take care of your orders and needs, and even have a friendly chat with you while you wait for the food. So far we’ve tried the Curry and other rice dishes - amazing. Tomorrow we’ll try something else on the menu… Maybe!
