Zamenhof — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

In addition to the problem bellow, both my friend and I are having stomachache after we left the restaurant. It is almost 1am and I am still going back and forth to the toilet. Thus, I reduce the star for the food.

I rarely give 1 star, I usually give 4 or 5 starts easily for food. But I cannot give more to this restaurant. It was a mistake, and I don’t think I will come back to this place anymore.

It was my birthday dinner. We went to this restaurant because it was raining and the other restaurant we wanted to go to was closed.

We had pleasant food and a nice atmosphere until this one male waiter (who was not originally waiting our table) came to our table. And suddenly assumed that we were ordering more beer. We told them that we did not order additional beer. And awkwardly, after 5min, the other waiter just put the beer in the table without saying anything.

I felt extremely disappointed. I want to have fun in my birthday. But why does they forced us to take this one glass of beer that we did not order. We are a group of three and each of us spent more than 600kr here. Why is that not enough that they need to force us to take additional one glass of beer that we have clearly refused? That we have never ordered.

Very disappointing.

First of all it is very important to differentiate the front from the back. The back is one thing and the front another.

The front:

I could not be more desapointed, I mean, this is a very good location in Gothenburg and the ambience looks great but in the end it is all a cover. The food concept is terrible.

We went on a business meeting with 2 great chefs and we took the 5 course menu suggested by the chef. It was a total scam and deseption for the group. High price and very low quality food:

Taste less Hummus and bread as starters, re-heated tortilla, streamed fish with no flavour, street food level pulled pork and sour dessert end. Awful!

Honestly they must think people are stupid, otherwise there is no way you can make such a cheap selection of food.

The back part:

The back part is a great place to have fun, play some games and have a beer. Descent American style street food and good music.

This is a restaurant that it has all the pitential to be a great place to eat but instead they decided to be a good place to go to...

Intressant upplevelse?

Helt otrolig behandling i entrébaren igår. Stod och väntade, respektfullt 30 min i ena hörnet, med min utländska vän.

Bartendern släppte förbi runt 10st personer höger och vänster om oss 2, som råkade trilla in, och vi satt och väntade och väntade, tills det började bli riktigt intressant och försökte få kontakt med amatören i baren.

Bartendern var totalt okontaktbar just med oss 2, men inte med alla andra. Jag är ljus och min vän mörk, jag är svensk (42år) och min vän är asiatisk indisk malaysier (32år), så någon borde vara synlig i baren. Vi var ej överberusade eller otrevliga, 2 trevliga vuxna dudes sugna på en trevlig kväll och ett gott glas.

Till slut, så gapade jag till amatören i baren, ”att vi suttit och väntat i 30 min, för en öl”, men han brydde sig bara inte? Jag hann ju plocka upp en IPhone 16 som låg vid sidan och lämna tillbaks den till en glad pojkvän till ägaren, som ringde, i väntan vid baren.

Till slut gick jag och min vän ned längs baren till vänstra sidan och fick samma behandling igen, från de 2 andra amatörerna.

Jag och min vän tyckte det var otroligt komiskt, precis som vi var spöken eller osynliga.

Folk till höger och vänster trillade in och gick före, precis som alla var några VIP:s?

Jag har en gammal vän som arbetat som bartender i 20 år och varit barchef på Grand Hotell, han skulle aldrig 🙅‍♂️ uppträda så, mot normala och trevliga kunder.

Det tog ungefär 1 timme att få tag i något att dricka från den baren och då var det strax stängning.

Mitt råd, anställ riktiga bartenders och inte pajaser och amatörer, och till de kaxiga amatörerna i baren, byt arbete, ni kan börja torka bord istället!

Hade jag varit ägare för Zamenhof skulle jag sätta värde på bra bartenders, för det är ju där...
