To start this place is situated in a very comfy space with wooden beams here and there. It used to be an old grain house if I remember correct. So the start of the evening when we celebrated my wifes birthday was promising.
We had booked the 5 course menue since when we booked the dinner the 7 course menue was not available to book during the week. However upon arriving we were offered the 7 course menu which we of course accepted. We also took the premium wine pairing. To our surprise she offered us a half pachage per person since we don't need too much alcohol before we lose our tastebuds. This turned out to be perfect for us. Smaller servings in each glass but we could still get the taste with the food.
We did get the following and I will not write about each serving since it will take up too much space.
Pre starter was three small mouth pieces the first based on potatoes, the second on a small panncake with shrimp and dill oil on top and the third a thin layer of crisp with duck and chicken on top. Very nice
A small loaf of levain bread was served on a brick. The levain used was 30 years old by origin and given as a gift by the famous Jan Heed the maestro of baking in Sweden.
Mackerel with tomatoe and melon Hallibut with a type of onion found wild in the spring (not ordinary spring onion) and mussel. White asparragus with elderflower sauce Small sea crayfish (havskräfta) with dill and chanterel Pigs cheek green asparragus and a foam café du paris spiced up with chili flakes (I will come back to this) Back of lamb with green peas and mint cream The dessert with rhubarb vanilla and verbena butterfried sponge cake and a small boule of rhubarb ice cream.
All dishes was paired with the following wines. Gaia (Assyrtiko) from Santorini Grece Chablis premier cru (France) Traversée Alsace (France) Domaine Agapé Pinot Gris from Alsace (orange) France Langhe Nebbiolo (Italy) S. C. Pannell Smart (Grenach) Australia Dr Loosen Riesling Beerenauslese
We have tried orange wines earlier and never really gotten into it and I can say the same thing here. Not to our liking but nice to get to test it with food professionally pared by a sommeliere. Dish number 5 was due to the use of chili flakes in the café du paris butter foam killing the otherwise excellent Italian wine. The dish in itself was very good. The wine in itself was as I wrote excellent. But together not to our liking.
This is only a small set back and did not ruin our experience as whole. A very nice waitress served us and was very observing if our glasses were empty of water or the need to remove our plates. Very good experienc there as well as with the whole experience of this visit.
I can really recommend Kockeriet Thank you we...
Read moreThis place completely shattered my expectations. I was fairly confident that it would be like any other restaurant with high quality meals - it was so much more. As soon as you were through the door you were greeted warmly by staff who directed you to the coat room and then seating. As the dishes came rolling out, some were finished right there while you watched - we even got some interesting back story to some techniques used! The place itself was smaller than I had imagined but it made the experience so much more intimate, you weren't just one of the many. The staff kept a close eye on you and were so on point with filling your drink up and with their recommendations. We chose the 7 course meal option and were so stuffed by the end of the evening. There's also something to be said about the fact that I do NOT eat fish or sea food generally speaking, but 3 of 7 dishes were in fact fish; I was sceptical to say the least, but even these dishes were well crafted and downright fantastic!
Definitely recommend checking this place out!...
Read moreKockeriet sadly makes a critical mistake as a restaurant, you need to feed people.
Every course we had was absolutely deliciuos, the food was great, and the restaurant was beautiful. We had the 7 course dinner which, combined with 3 amuse bouche and bread, gave us a lot of different flavours. The wine package was great and so were the non alcoholic pairings.
Unfortunately, though, we left hungry. Regardless of how good the food is, it is not acceptable to leave still hungry. I can only imagine how unsatisfying a 5 course dinner...
