Arrived at this nice restaurant with friendly service at about 4.30pm. Sat outside the restaurant to enjoy the sea breeze. Ordered two glasses of rose and a skagen. The wine was good, being light and well chilled for easy drinking on a hot summer afternoon. The skagen (starter portion) came served with two pieces of toast. The bread was buttered and grilled on both sides so they were crispy. The shrimp “pate” was a large blob of shrimps drowning in mayonnaise and garnished with tobiko and dill. For those are unfamiliar with this Swedish national sandwich, basically you build it yourself by slathering the toast with the shrimp pate after squeezing the lemon and mixing the tobiko and dill with the shrimps.
As you bite down on the toast, the crispiness gives way to the delightfully firm crunch of shrimps. Unfortunately the tobiko does nothing for the sandwich.
Pro-tip: come in the evenings towards sundown or after summer. The afternoon summer sun beating down on you as you are enjoying your wine and food spoils it somewhat. Or sit inside but you lose the chance to be closer to the sea. Or come in autumn or spring.
And please come with a larger party. That will do justice to the extensive menu. But then the damage will be correspondingly larger as this place is pricey. And correctly so, for the location...
Read moreWe loved the idea of eating on a pier but were less than enthusiastic about the food and service. I ordered seated tuna that looked and tasted boiled with almost no searing at all. The salad was meh. The grilled vegetables were obviously microwaved.
Service was inadequate. If they came by, they paid almost no attention to requests. I watched a gentleman at the next table try to order bets for him and his companion while the waitress walked away after dropping the menus off. He laughed at the audacity and she finally came back and took his order, but then didn't bother to come back for quite some time to get his food order. They're were three tables in use at the time with two servers.
Generally speaking, I'm pretty easy going with touristy places, but this was a waste of calories and money. Find a better...
Read moreUnfortunately, now apparently has some staff with strange views towards foreigners. We had a reservation for an important celebration, and they demanded that we choose a week in advance not more than 3 kinds of food. I have called to ask if we can pick food as we come (especially since a year ago we had the same reservation for the same number of people and didn't have to pre-select anything), which was followed by a question from the restaurant "How long have you lived here?", so I had to justify my presence in the country before the discussion could continue. I find this extremely offensive, does my origin define if I can eat at a restaurant? This is very unfortunate, we really liked the food and the atmosphere, but apparently now we cannot count on not being judged based on not being...
