After trying the branch in Söder and finding it average we gave Greasy Spoon another try, and things took another step down. I don't get the hype, and I just can't recommend these guys. Disappointing to say the least, aggravating to be more truthful.
Service felt standoffish and systematic to the point of being a little uncomfortable, as if there was a manual to strictly follow. One of our waitstaff was so relaxed it was like he was high. Don't make a joke about being hungover and tired dude unless you can pull off the joke - if that's your standard line it just comes off weird and disingenuous when you have such a don't care attitude.
It's a simple business decision to prevent adjustments to orders, thanks for putting the kitchen first and writing it down (literally). Why inflict issues of production chain or staffing on customers? There's no hospitality in that, and I've never come against it anywhere in Stockholm. If someone wants scrambled eggs instead of fried, you just say no? Really?
Drinks arrived well after the meals had, and we had to ask after them. This was after we were told by the waitress taking our drinks orders she needed a couple minutes before we could order food. Why? The food came out lightning fast. The Brygg next to us was empty the whole meal, and after asking for it to be refilled, it never came back. I paid for a bottomless coffee and literally just got the bottom. Just have someone take care of the coffee, or have replacements standing by ready? Just before leaving we were told there was another Brygg in the other side of the restaurant... why then? Why only after asking after the refill twice? Just tell us when we order it and I'm happy to look after myself.
Finally - don't drop the bill on the table without asking us if we're done, or if we need anything else. Why rush people or assume without a word? There's simply no good reason for that. I hadn't finished my coffee even and the table had been clear for maybe 5 minutes.
Food was decent but didn't exceed anything else available in Stockholm. The macha latte was plain - try Johan and Nystrom or Pom & Flora for...
Read moreBeen to Greasy Spoon several times prior, always had a good experience with friendly staff and good food, so what happened here? I was told by my friends that prior to my arrival, the waitress had been very rude to them. Sure enough, it took about 20 minutes to get ahold of her to place our orders, and she had been running back and forth past us like a headless chicken. Called out to her in a volume she would surely have heard being less than 1m away, yet I was ignored. After placing our orders, our food never came and after 30 minutes we were finally able to get ahold of her again only to be told that our order never went through and that everything we looked forward to eat was sold out. Lovely.Funny enough ours seemed to be the only order in the entire restaurant that didn't go through. The first thing the waitress did wasn't to perhaps recommend another dish in attempt to make us stay, instead she said "do you want to leave or would you like to stay?" like it didn't matter to her. Such attitude gives me the impression that customers aren't valued here. A couple of bad reviews and some lost customers may not matter to you right now seeing the amount of customers you get, but with good brunch places popping up left and right, you could lose those customers just as easily. Customers like us are a big part of what made your business successfull, perhaps the restaurant should put more thought into their service, queing system and actually appreciate their customers. At the end the waitress explained that they were short staffed and she was stressed. Honestly that isn't an excuse to take it out on your customers and seeing the amount of traffic you get daily one would think that you're used to working in such environment. If you cannot handle pressure then perhaps you shouldn't be working in the service industry. Bar man was...
Read moreI have been to this Greasy Spoon twice and after this last time i really felt the need to write this bad review. The food is alright but the service is beyond BAD. First time I was there, me and my friend was seated and given the menu, our waiter was overall very nonchalant and did not seem to care at all, we ordered, and ate. My friends tea tasted like it was burnt, I dont even know how thats possible. Every other table was also given water and cutlery but we had do ask for it, we also quickly realized that other tables recieved a better service than we did. My friend who is a woman of color felt as if we got bad service because of her skin color, and when we left we were both very upset about it. However now, almost a year later we walked past Greasy Spoon again and decided that we should try it again.
This time we were met at the entrance by a waiter who said there was a 20 minute waiting list for us, unless we wanted to sit at the bar. We agreed to sit in the bar due to the cold weather . A few minutes after we sat down a couple came in and suddenly there was a table for them. Also there where multiple tables free but we were still not offered to sit there. We ordered, and my chailatte tasted very bad. We AGAIN did not get any water. Wile we were finishing up we had to wait very long to be able to pay. The waiter did not ask how our food or anything but again we saw them give other customers better service. ALSO one of the waiters were rolling a cigarette in the bar?!?! That does not feel okay at all.
I am very unsatisfied with my experiences and I regret spending my money here. I dont recommend at all! If it was possible to give 0...
