The open faced pickled herring sandwich (Smörrebröd) was topped with the tiniest cut chive toonds, whipped butter, diced red onions, dill, and fresh radish slices. It was a work of art! We paid around $35 CAD for a toast skagen, which is essentially a piece of brown bread topped with a ton of small shrimps, some coated in a lovely creamy sauce. We were extremely delighted by the taste of the shrimps; they were incredibly tender and sweet. The bread on the bottom had a hint of sweetness as well, and adding the lemon almost made it taste like a dessert. I had the Christmas Platter here at Nybroe and thoroughly enjoyed the mix of flavours and textures present in the Christmas Platter which include open face sandwiches of salmon gravlax, roast beef, cream cheese and beetroot. The beer I had was light and delightful as well.
