Rost — Restaurant in Stockholm

The short version: At Rost (Swedish for Rust), they quite possibly serve the best darn pizzas in all of Stockholm. And since the Swedish capital has hundreds (if not thousands) of mediocre pizzerias, of which I’ve tried a dozen or two, that’s actually saying something. From now on, I'll benchmark all other pizza experiences against the fabulously tasting pies at Rost.

Folks, in my humble opinion, most restaurateurs, regardless of cuisine or positioning, don't give a hoot about anything but making money. Sadly, they have zero passion, no creativity or even a tiny hint of ambition to do anything but the bare minimum.

It’s clear to me after just two visits to this cozy and very approachable neighborhood restaurant that the owners have developed a sustainable recipe for combining passion, creativity and business without sacrificing quality or ambiance.

The adjacent motorcycle workshop – where anyone is welcome to rent space to refine and/or repair their own bike – is certainly an interesting bonus to the overall Rost experience.

Returned after many years (I was there before covid) from my last awful customer experience at this bar/restaurant located in the heart of Södermalm. Again, disappointing beyond description. They, again, had the nerve to serve me and the people I was with a pre-sliced pizza where a piece/slice was missing from it. Meaning, they had either eat it before serving it or disposed of the slice for reasons that are still a mistery to humanity. I am not going again to comment on the roughness and rudeness of the staff running this "place". Just to say that they even felt offended when they were told by us of the aforementioned fact. Such a joke....

ROST is absolutely wonderful. Such eclectic place, with unique interior objects, mix of people, hanging out doing everything from having a beer with friends and their dog, fine dine (for a pizza), tango dancing (every other thursday), playing boardgames, listing to live jazz (saturdays) - sitting inside or outside...
