Café du Commerce — Restaurant in Bern

Very underwhelming service. We ordered food, waited 45 minutes after which the (presumably) owner came by asked how the good had been. We told her that we hadn't had anything yet. She said it's because we ordered a rice dish which takes at least 25 minutes. Another five minutes passed, when the chef came by showed us the shrimps we ordered and took them away again. they asked me if I had ordered the daily menu. I said yes even though I hadn't because I was really hungry at that point and didn't want to wait another half hour. Five minutes later the food arrived. They had forgotten about the rice dish we had ordered for our small child but by now we were really pressed for time. For sind reason the shrimp dish arrived as two identical plates around 10 minutes apart. The food itself was ok. Not great but not terrible neither. The staff seemed disinterest and unorganized.

It's a great location but the service was very poor. Probably a good place to have a coffee but if you're looking for food or have plans for the rest of the day, you should probably...

Anabela, proprietários do CAFÉ DU COMMERCE, onde podemos desfrutar duma refeição com o calor e cheirinho de Portugal. Aberto desde 1947, juntamente com espanhóis, tem na sua entrada, um resumo do seu percurso, até chegarmos aos seus actuais proprietários. Para quem visite a cidade, passe neste local e sentirá um pouco do calor que falo. .... Anabela, propietarias de CAFÉ DU COMMERCE, donde podemos disfrutar de una comida con el calor y el olor de Portugal. Abierto desde 1947, junto a españoles, tiene en su entrada, un resumen de su recorrido, hasta llegar a sus actuales propietarios. One of those restaurants with history and continuity, precisely because they are good and authentic. Service... You can feel it in the warm and humorous smiles of the staff. The restaurant is full but nowhere stressful. We felt at home and on holiday at the same time. The Spanish and Portuguese flavours are consistent not only in the food but also in the wines. The food is impressively straightforward and full of flavour - delicious. The portions are generous. The wines we had were wonderfully fresh and bring back memories...
