In the spring my girlfriend and i had dinner here. She ordered the mixed vegetables with the saffron dressing and i ordered the special tortellini with a creamy "bärlauch" sauce. Her vegetables were over cooked and there was no dressing on them. When we ordered dressing they brought us vinegar with so much saffron in it it tasted like furniture polish. My sauce tasted good but was watery and i had about 8 tortellini in my bowl.
The position and their wines being as good as they are we decided to try again. I ordered the gnocchi with a tomato and pepper sauce and my girlfriend the salad bowl with chicken. My gnocchi were brought luke-warm. The gnocchi themselves were so floury that i had to practically scrape a layer off of my tongue. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar and they added some red and yellow peppers. The salad was at least edible but it was hard to tell if it was also just bought from a migros shelf. The restaurant seems to be understaffed as well considering the food arrived before our wine did (i assume the food was just put in the microwave). This experience cost us 75 CHF (3 glasses of wine, an ice tea and the food).

We enjoyed sitting on the terrace, out in the green, right in the city. You can have mostly light summer cuisine, desserts and cocktails. I had the Grill & Salad, basically a nice salad with a Bratwurst. As a side, I ordered a small fries. The salad consisted of a variety of green salad, some carrots and a tasty french dressing. The sausage was hot and tasty, and with the salad just right for the warm weather. The fries were the star of the show - really freshly fried, hot and quite a lot! The Park Café is a nice spot to chill, eat something light and slurp...

You'll find all kinds of people here; families with kids, students, business people etc. It's also a good place to recover from a city walk - if you're a tourist visiting Bern, looking for a place to relax and would like to stay close to the Bahnhof, this is a great alternative. Make sure to check the view from the Bundesterasse (if you...
